How to Crimp a BNC Connector & Make Your Own CCTV Cable.

Ғылым және технология

This video describes how to crimp a BNC connector onto RG59 cable, and how to make CCTV Cable. I only crimp ONE END OF THE CABLE in this video. You need to do the same again on the other end, and use the other DC Jack to fully create the cable.

    THIS IS TOTALLY INCORRECT!!! HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE DOWNVOTES!!! TAKE IT OFF KZread! You need to crimp the shielding braid (which also acts as your ground) between the ferrule and bnc connector!!! Otherwise you have no shield and no ground!!!

    That's about the crappiest BNC crimp job I've ever seen done. 1: The centre pin _MUST_ butt up against the inner insulation. 2: NEVER EVER EVER _EVER_ CRIMP THE FERRULE TWICE!!!!! It seriously weakens the ferrule and reduces the crimp pressure. If done properly the metal interfaces will cold-weld themselves into place This video is a good example of how NOT to crimp BNC cables.

    @@tohtorizorro Correct. It's a RG58 (50 ohm) plug, not a RG59 (75 ohm) one It's important to note that putting a 50 ohm BNC plug into a 75 ohm BNC socket will effectively _destroy_ the socket centre pin as the pins are different sizes (75 ohm pins are about 3/4 the diameter of 50 ohm and a 50 ohm pin will catastrophically ruin the brass fingers of a 75 ohm socket by splaying them beyond elastic recovery limits, rendering them permanently intermittent) If this is an example of satsecure's professionalism, people should be avoiding his company like the plague

    Hello from the State side.... West coast to be exact. This was a very informational, detailed, wonderful video, as my cameras were about 4 years old and my video side connector ripped off. But i do have other cables that were torn do to screws as well.... i am going to rewire just as soon as our 120* Temperatures drop to 75 degrees... Cheers.

    That is an incorrect way of terminating the BNC connector. The wire "mesh" or shield should cover the whole back end of the connector and the ferrule goes over the lot for crimping.

    Hi Mate, do you know to do if im using a weaker (thinner) RG59 cable. All ferrules I've found seem to be for the thicker RG59 cables. I have already cut the BNCs off the runs as I had to fit them through 20mm conduits. Thanks

    That is the worse crimp and install job ever. There are so many things wrong with the installation of BNC connector ever. The braiding should not be cut off as it part of the shielding of the cable. Canare has great crimp on connectors that I used in major telecommunications facilities that feed hundreds of thousands of customers.

    You cut all the coax cable copper mash , shouldn't this be connected to the cctv terminal so you would have a ground return and that would reduce any external effects on the quality of the picture?

  • @satsecure

    @satsecure

    7 жыл бұрын

    As long as some of the copper mesh connects to the silver ferrel on the crimp it will provide grounding (i did leave some of it on the coax cable). The more copper mesh connected the better the grounding, and quality of picture. For longer cable runs its advisable to leave more copper mesh to connect to the silver ferrel.

    Twisting the mesh into a twine and then crimping can crease the centre stinger by causing uneven pressure around the circumference and affect pic quality, bad technique in my view. Also multiple crimps on the collar is not such a good idea too; get a better pair of crimps that require only one application.

  • @SergSpace

    You cut a lot of wire, man, 3:29 which will increase wire impedance, that will invoke overheating in this connection and in the end make a bad signal transmission. This is a Tutorial of how not to do.

    Mate, can i ask a question if possible please, I have messed up my BNC cable when feeding through a external hole, the bnc connector and the power cable have both snapped off, i have watched your video and want to repair it as i have already laid my cctv cable. the only problem i have is with the power cable, when stripping the power cable, i dont have a red and black wire, the two wires are white and exposed copper wire, can you please advise if this is possible to repair and fix ?

  • @blueedgeraceteam

    @blueedgeraceteam

    If its a low voltage system you can guess which is which, it only has to contact for a moment, if you get no pic then flip the polarity of the wires and you have the correct pos/neg condition mate.
