Finally an alternative to Fimo!!! I've been creating miniature and small acrylic brooches for years but the baking can really go wrong with them - you have to watch them bake or they fry!. This is much easier, lighter and drying without me present! Yippee!!!! Can't wait to start! This method combines my first love of cake decorating and painting. Awesome!

Hello! I love sculptural paint and like many others, stumbled across Gaffrey because I wanted to incorporate more texture/sculpture into my paintings. I love your videos! How long do you say your paint in the Tupperware lasts before it dries out? I'm attempting to compare costs between making my own or buying premade colors. Painting is my therapy/hobby so being cost effective is important since I'm not trying to make a business out of it. Thank you! I look forward to watching more of your videos!

That’s great that you are using it as a tool for therapy and a fun outlet! Creating art has so many benefits! To be honest, I haven’t been keeping great track of how long my paint is in its Tupperware container. However, I’ve had it last for months and no issues. I may have had one that was over a year that I could tell was on its way to drying out, but I tried to use them up quickly. If you’re worried about them drying out, you could always add another extra precaution by using plastic wrap first and then the lid of the container on top of that.❤

Unfortunately the alternative product is also not available in our location....but i really liked this acrylic 3d art....i have asmall doubt can we use acrylic wall putty instead of both the texture pastes that you use????....i hope you will respond to my request please answer because i am watching this type of art since 3months now i find your channel which is very very helpful....

Hello! I’m sorry to hear that both of these companies are not available in your location. I have never tried the homemade versions like joint compound or wall putty, but I think you’re right. Doubt that they have the same texture and may not hold their shape as well, etc. Unfortunately, these are the only two that I’ve had the chance to use and research. I’ll have to do some digging and see what I can come up with! ❤

Hello! I haven’t tried fevicryl acrylic colors before, but I’d imagine it would work just fine. However, I personally like using heavy body acrylic paint color to keep the thickness of the medium/paste consistent.

Great question! I have never tried the homemade versions before, but I know that there are a lot out there! Not sure if they all have the same results though. That’s something that is definitely on my list and will need some time to research.

@@eclecticcreations23 I completely understand, I know that these paints can add up. I think that finding homemade options are great for those that just want to experiment and just have fun with this style of paint. However, if you’re interested in having your creations long term or possibly selling your work, I do suggest investing. Since these paints are archival and are created to last etc, but who knows, there maybe a way to make homemade just as good! 🤷🏻‍♀️

@artfullyausdemoreco yeah that's what I'm thinking, even messing around with different textures... ibhavnt come up with anything remotely similar... I even tried whipping up the mixtures haha! Yeah I've settled on just buying the medium outright.... I just wasn't sure if anyone came up with a viable solution

Hello! Maybe you’re thinking of gesso? I use gesso as a primer for my canvases.
