*How to have a North Star*: - ask “where do I want to be 10 years from now?” in both personal and work dimensions - have an important support system - get to know yourself more: * inputs: listen, read, talk, experiment * reflection: turn stimulus down and look inwards. Meditation, journaling, time alone. Take time to piece things together. “What did you do as a little kid before you applied pressure/expectations” “what can I NOT live without?” - honour the KID IN YOU Hope this helps anyone :)

After surviving cancer I have dived into figuring this out and the number one thing for me is to be myself. Accept myself and unapologetically be myself just as I am. This is so deep. I lost myself in middle school trying to fit in with others around me. Now at 23 I'm still trying to find that creative girl that I once used to be. You can become discouraged when all you have around you are lost and low self-esteem people. You have to have strength to push pass the limit others put on you. It's saddening, but it took me watching this video to realize to what extent I've lost myself and why I want to find it again. 😢

I feel you, (I'm 23 too) I've been feeling so lost, and it seems that the further I go the more I loose myself, like if I was underwater trying to go to the surface but I keep drowning, it's even harder when you don't have any hope on you, you just feel numb; the only thing that I've learned it's to be kind to myself and stop thinking in who I used to be, because that hurts me more than anything, remembering the things that I used to do, to think and feel, I stopped trying to find that past self that I lost a time ago, because I'm not her anymore and instead I'm trying to understand the direction that I'm taking, I'm trying to be.

blumen well said... Better to be alone than to be in bad company is something I strive to live by. The moment I notice someone is a bit too toxic for me to handle, I cut them out. It’s so important to get good at this while we’re young because old habits die hard.

The good news is...23 is young. This is exactly what this part of your life is for. The mistake I made at your age (I’m 33) is that I had no intention or direction at that age. I’m getting a late start, but I AM starting. Keep attacking your journey with intention. Be mindful. Be present. You’ve got this.

I am almost in that age. I am 22 y.o now and feeling so lost. Every single thing scares me and I somehow tired of surrounded by people. While it is true that 22 or 23 is young, some societies already see it as a failure because you lost and your peers mostly not lost in that age so, it is very depresing. This guy gives an insight toward what should I do though so, thanks for sharing.

TL DR SUMMARY -"Design : do or plan something with a specific purpose or action in mind." We should design our own lifestyle, focusing on what matters to us. -Lifestyle design is a messy process, our priorities and dreams change constantly. We're learning as we go. -Ask "where do I want to be in 10 years, personally and professionally?" Tools to know yourself better : -Input : learning, opening new doors, experimenting. -Reflection : Meditation, journalling, connect dots together. -Ask :"What can I not live without?" (Expressing myself? Traveling?) -It's not an easy process, so treating things like experiments or games help to reduce the pressure of it.

Every single thing you say here, has been true for me too. Except that I am 55 years old. I've had a 30- year career in healthcare, and retired 4 months before there was covid. I just didn't believe in what I was doing anymore. I've been living in a cabin in the woods ever since. The first time in my life I've been alone. I've been trying to find who I was before the "smash" of other people's expectations. I've been writing and painting and loving every minute of being alone. Meditating, praying, resting, letting the whole of my life dissolve away so I can find the authentic self within. My psychology is so light now, that unless I actually focus on it, I cannot even feel my body anymore. I'm happy, joyful, thankful, unburdened, ready for the next season. Change never stops. Thank God. Your message is timely, and many will be blessed and benefited by it, Nathaniel. Soldier On!!!!!

Nathaniel Drew, I can't express enough just how deeply you've impacted my life through your content, and your struggles and journey has inspired me so much. It's provoked me on such a deep level that helped me as I started to ask more intently about who I am, why am I here? What does success really mean for me? I started my own youtube channel which I won't mention but I want to document my experience as well. I just turned 20 about just over two weeks ago, and it made me realize that life will go on whether I pursue what makes me "feel most fulfilled" or not. I hope to meet you someday Nathaniel you've really changed my life.

I'm coming back to this video after two years. Two years ago I made notes and since then my goals have changed but I also managed to achieve the main goal I had at that time - to start online work and become a digital nomad. I moved to another country and I travelled a lot which I also wanted to do! I think it's a great success especially when you count pandemic in between. I really recommend all of you to take notes and come back to them after some time. It really shows you how far you've come.

Thank you! On another topic, don't miss the audiobook "The Highly Sensitive Person" by Elaine N. Aron. As an HSP myself, I found a lot of useful information there. Experimenting is soo crucial and will get anyone far in their journey. When I’m in doubt with where I wanna go, that’s one thing I constantly remind myself of.
