Yeah dude, I struggle a lot with figuring out what key/tempo I should write these phrases/chords/one shots/expressions/etc in. I get caught up with wanting to be able to name them correctly with the correct tempo. When it comes to jamming for 20 mins with random things, going back and figuring out what tempo and key a certain phrase is sounds absolutely nuts with the amount of work when you have a collection of 100+ different smaller sounds that you've created. I've been building a dnb sample library with bass loops and drum loops with the occasional high harmonic arp/expressions being very simple I really like the idea of sampling from these analog synths though with a 'mud pie' (as sound designers would call it) and then chopping up smaller sounds.
