Nature has everything you need for your dioramas. You just need to go out and pick it up.
How to make realistic dirt: Step 1 - get some real dirt 😆 Very helpful tutorial though. Will definitely be using this for a few of my models 👍
Nice work. Simple yet effective
There was a road construction site near my place. I went out and got a couple of paint cans full from the fill pile, and ran it through a sieve set bought on Amazon. I've got 4 different sizes from dust up to full gravel "rocks". Ask the guys nicely and your needs will be taken care of for years in one go.
Thanks! Great tutorial!

Wow now watched all your videos and have subscribed to your channel because I’m finding it invaluable truly awesome job sir !!! Was nice to hear you to on the last video. I don’t have an awful lot of money for diorama building... well all aspects of modelling really, so using your tips here I can find a lot of bits n bobs around the house/garden so thanks for all the how to tips n tricks. Your diorama from last video is fantastic work and looks real not toy like at all, I have two large dioramas to build and your tips are ALL going to be extremely useful for me !!! Thanks for making your channel and sharing your ideas it’s extremely kind of you so thanks again. Wishing you every success with your channel, Kenny 😃🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Kenneth, thankyou very much for the sub and the great compliment. I'm pleased the videos help and inspire you. 😁 hopefully many more to come. Thanks again and hope you enjoy the new video posted today.
Superb
Love the style of this video! Big close ups that allow us to really see what you are doing, contemporary styling with the editing transitions keeps it current and a great ambient sound track to tie it all together. Have subscribed because the quality is consistently high. The only thing I would say is some of the text could be onscreen for just a beat longer and I might add slight darkening to keep legibility when white text goes over a light background but this is a tiny gripe. Excellent product beautifully presented. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the compliment :) I am still finding my way on here and trying a few different ways of shooting videos. Its great to have feedback and will take note of the text on screen. Thanks again
That’s the shit right there. Thank you!!!!
does this work for wet mud? e.g ww1 battlefields, when this dries (assuming I don't add the extra stuff and only use the paste) will it look like dirt or like mud? thank you.
That looks just like what I just made in the toilet lol 😆
2:56 can I mix the glue with paint and the dirt?
Great video! Just suscribed. There's no need to bake the dirt in the oven or something like that prior to use it in order to kill any bugs that might be present?

Thankyou. It's down to personal preference really. I have baked dirt in the oven previously. It's down to your own personal choice really :)
I'm new to all of this kinda stuff and I was wondering, would you have to seal this over with watered down glue, or would the PVA mixed into the dirt be enough?
@dioramasscalemodeling
2 жыл бұрын
hi, pva mixed into the dirt will be fine. also once you apply static grass over the top it adds another layer of glue.

I unfortunately don't own nor have access to any coffee grinder..So what could I use as an easy and free substitute?

Mortar and pestle? A plastic bag and rolling pin? Anything to break it down
Can you use wood glue or is it only pva
@dioramasscalemodeling

I have used both pva and woodglue with no problems 👍
Do you think, I could use just regular glue instead of the PVA glue?
@dioramasscalemodeling

I have only used PVA so not sure how other glues would fair, it would be worth doing a small test piece to find out

What is 'regular glue' if not pva/wood glue? Superglue? 2 part epoxy? Plastic glue? Mod podge? Hot glue?

When I do like this, lots of cracks appears when dries.. can someone tell me how to avoid cracks..?
@dioramasscalemodeling
Жыл бұрын
Hey there, I have found to reduce cracking use less water and don't let it dry to quickly, you could also try covering it with a damp cloth if you are in a hot climate. Alternatively fill any cracks once dried with another mix of the mud. Hope this helps

Million thanks for the instructions.. Yes was because of the excessive heat.. its summer 40 degrees here.. so I have cleaned the surface, reapplied the mixture, and kept inside the bathroom.. now its there.. drying slowly.. am working on Tamiya tent scene..
Can it be put on wood
@dioramasscalemodeling
Жыл бұрын
hi, yes can be used on wood although recommend varnishing or sealing beforehand so the pva/water mixture doesn't absorb and distort the wood.
What's coming up next?
