I used most of this concepts with some of my own ideas for a music video a few months back and this is seriously the best method for a VHS look! If you're curious in my videos it's the one I did for a band called Blackthrone.

I know this is an old vid at this point, but thanks! I spent a solid half hour to hour looking for a video that shows how to make it ACTUALLY look like a vhs rather than some crappy attempt at recreating it, and this worked perfectly!

Very intersting. This is very similar to making phase/ensemble effect with music by copying the audio clip and offsetting the postition by milliseconds, and changing the pitch by semitones. Very cool!

This looks great when added to my footage! All of your work is phenomenal, Justin! I'm wondering how long it takes you to export clips like these, though? I've been using an external GPU setup (with a GTX 960 graphic card) and my MacBook that has worked great so far, but applying these effects has turned a 6 minute video into a 20-hour(!!!) export. Justin, what processing speeds are you using? Has anyone else run into this issue?

It's also probably worth noting that I did not scale this down to 480p but left it at 1080p

+Lindsay Martin try to use presets and adjustment layers to make it easier to apply over multiple clips, or select all of your clips that you want to apply the effect on and right click - nest them and apply the effects on the single nested sequence
