    The Jupiter-Xm is simply an awesome little beast. I was cautious at first with the price, but after I played with one I quite happily handed over my money. Roland has really stepped up recently (I know people will hate me for saying this). We have the Jupiter range, the new Fantom range and Zenology (albeit waiting for Zen Pro to arrive). I also love that with batteries I can sit and play anywhere. Gattobus shows us what it can really do, but it's up to us to really get to know it and have hours and hours of enjoyment

    On TOTP in the 80s bands used to mime an entire song coming from one synth with no power cable connected. You could do that for real with the Xm. 😀

    They were terrified of screw ups if the band played live. There are several examples though where the artist simply refused playback.

    There's some KZread video of a band trying to play either Blue Monday or Bizarre Love Triangle live (no MIDI, recordings, quantizing, etc.). It's pretty messy! As KMFDM says, "our music is sampled, totally fake, it's done by machines, 'cause they don't make mistakes"

    I was thinking to buy the Xm buthere I don't have any full size keyboard and controller, and because is a Jupiter and is the perfect excuse to buy one, I bought the X and is not that bad the screen on the left. I mean, I can clearly see it and I think they didn't put it in the middle because they tried to make the X as close as possible to the 8 in design. At first I wasn't sure about this tiny screen, but it works fine. It would be amazing if the Xm has color leds like the X. Is a beautiful synth but needs more colors, like the 8 has.

  • @purpl3t1m3

    @purpl3t1m3

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@MaximilianoSchneider I also bought the X and the screen being on the left hasn't bothered me in the slightest. If I wanted to do sound design, I'd do 99% of it in Zenology, and then maybe tweak it a little on the Jupiter. The workflow for the synth isn't that bad, but it would lose out to System-8 or other analog/VA synths on sound design. It doesn't matter to me, as the onboard sounds and Roland Cloud sounds are insanely good sounding.

    @@purpl3t1m3 Well I was considering the System 8, but I never liked the green lights a lot. I have a TB-3 and is fine, but when I bought the TB-03 I realized I like more the vintage design. Anyway, I know the analog modeling in the System 8 is superior and is using the same modeling as the Boutique line (I have a couple of them and I love how they look and sound), but my concern with System 8 is how much support will have this synth, when clearly everything is moving to Zen Core.

  • @purpl3t1m3

    @purpl3t1m3

    @@MaximilianoSchneider The green lights don't bother you as much in person in a full studio. It's not my favorite design ever, but it works. Using the brushed metal ends makes it look sexy! Roland just released the Juno 60 model, and even though they don't make their roadmap public, I don't think it will be the last ACB plugout offered. It's like printing money for them at this point. I'd love to see a System-8 Mk2 that lets you store more patches and plugouts (e.g. ALL of them). Other than that, I'd be happy to buy one again (in addition to my new Jupiter-X)

Grazie.
