When you go into your history, hit the camera on that bottom bar. That will take a snap shot of your work. You can then toggle between the original and your work. Taking a snap shot will also allow you to start back at where you left off if your computer for any reason shuts off and you need to get back into ps.

Just started watching the video and you mentioned not knowing the settings for your photo....it shows it to you (and us) on the upper right hand corner just under the histogram in case you ever need to know them quickly. :)

Thank you! These kids were so fun to photograph.
After your first duplicate layer, turn off your original layer's eyeball, start aditing from that duplicate, instead "flaten image" using "merge visible" so you have your original at the bottom. nice work by the way.

Is there anybody out there in 2024 who knows how to deal with those base layers without having to flatten the image? Ive also seen similar tutorials where they have to flatten the image and convert to a smart object before they can use gaussian blur. I'd sure like to know how to do these things without destructive editing. Any yt video someone could post a link? Thanks!
