Just create a different shape where I created the heart ♥ shape. Select both the blended object and the shape then, replace the spine just like I did in the video. Thanks.

Did you follow all the steps exactly as I did?

Your design is not as simple or easy as it seems, but rather complicated and difficult a little simplistic

it just roughens the edges for me instead of including the middle part

Make sure the path/spine of the heart is selected and then add a anchor point, this should fix the problem if not then go to Object>Blend>Reverse Spine. If the problem still exists then try watching the video again and do everything as shown in the video.
