I totally agree. I am so stuck just on my no content e-book process because they want the files in different formats and I don't know how to upload all the parts ugh.. very tricky when you are a newbie. i hope it gets easier.

It does get easier, but please do not create e-books with no or low content. Any books that need writing in should be paperback or hardback and not eBook.

Hi Kit, when you log into Canva and see your notebook or cover design you want to use, hover over the image, 3 dots appear click on those it then gives you an option to make a copy. Covers you can just add a new page, so you can create a 100 covers in one document that is all the same size.

Much faster way is choose text. Backspace text out. Hit shift and underscore and a line will keep going across your page. I like 18pt size

Hi! Many thanks for this, very useful! I have a question, since I use Canva as well. Let's say I do a notebook/journal of 8.5x11 with bleed, for which I create an interior of 8.625x11.25. When the times comes to download the file as pdf from Canva (with "pdf print", do I select the box "crop marks and bleeds" or it is not needed? I noticed that when selected, Canva is adding a small margin that will be cut out, but since the page is already 8.625, maybe this is not needed? And the opposite - I create a notebook 8.5x11 without bleed so I create myself an interior that is 8.5x11 - do I download it from Canva with bleed?

Hi, thanks for the questions. It is not needed as you have already set up the bleed to KDP settings. For the opposite, you do not download Canva with bleed. Hope that helps.

The cover would not be the right size, remember the cover is for the back, front and spine. Not just the front cover like an ebook. Although you could use the image of 6.125 x 9.25 and use it with KDP's cover creator but I am not sure how good that would be.

You need to create a cover and then upload it. I am not part of hardcover notebook beta group, I could do the interior on illustrator but not the covers, as I don't know the sizes that they use, since that is only with the beta testers. As for increasing sales, do your research on keywords, pay for Amazon Ads and use external ads like Pinterest.

I'm still not sure about the width when change from white paper, black ink to cream paper black ink, the first is 12,52" (notebook size 6x9") and the second is 12,55", then what different about the width in interior with cream paper back ink?

@@xselaholiviax8593 Those dimensions are incorrect. For your interior, if not using bleed it is just 6 x9 if using bleed it is 6.125 x 9.25. For your cover use kdp.amazon.com/cover-calculator this gives you the right size, but if your notebook is 100 pages it is 12.42 x 9.25 if 120 it is 12.52 x9.52. Hope that helps.

In this video I was just eyeballing the size between the two lines, but if you want to be exact here are the measurements. Narrow Rule is 0.25 inch or 6.4 mm, Wide rule is 0.34 inch or 8.7 mm, College Rule is 0.28 inch or 7.1 mm

Hi Suchu you do not need to download the calculator. You can download the templates which come in PNG and PDF format. kdp.amazon.com/en_US/cover-templates from these you can work out the size of the template. You add the two sides together and the spine to get the width. Then it gives you height.

The spine is what changes, with the different types of papers. That is why downloading the images help, because they give the spine size.

@@DreamCreativeBee so I have the downloaded cover template and in this video you are explaining how to add it up yourself and you are saying 6.125 +6.125+ the spine (which i understand is front cover, back cover and spine bases on number of pages, but does the spine need the .125 too? @@SuchuDance no the spine is the number KDP gives you on the image, that number changes with the number of pages or paper thickness. Do not add 0.125 to the spine, since that is bleed and the spine has no bleed.

How to duplicate the pages?

At the top of your page is a symbol that looks like two pieces of paper. You click that and it duplicates your page. Or you can change your canvas to grid view which is at the bottom near the zoom in/out. When in grid view you can use Command-d/control-d on your keyboard, or you can click on the 3 dots and select duplicate page.

Edit: So just in case someone else is having an issue as well I ended up sending the document to my phone via bluetooth and downloading a pdf to jpg converter called "PDF to JPG Converter-Image Converter" and it changed it so I could re upload it to my Google Drive where Canva accepted the file as an upload. Otherwise it kept sending me to WinZip wanting me to pay $49.99. I also tried getting Adobe and it still downloaded as a winzip file. So hope this helps someone who may run into the same issue. (I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 if that helps.) So when I to upload the book cover template into Canva it doesn't work because the template downloads as a zip file and needs winzip to open it. I tried converting into a pdf but that didn't work either and tried converting it to a png but through adobe but it just downloads right back into a zip file again. Is there another way to upload the template into canva?

You need to uninstall remove winzip from your computer. Somehow you have it installed. Windows have their own extraction tool. All you do is right click on the zipped folder and select extract all, then follow the instructions.
