Oh thank god, its an Aussie and not some ageing southern momma y'alling with a voice like a drill sergeant after a night in a smokey bar doing karaoke . . . .this is exactly what ive been looking for.

Sorry but I can’t watch this with the unnecessary (and annoying) music playing, it’s very annoying having to mute the whole video to watch it. Can’t give it a thumbs up because of that. I’m sure it would have been a great video otherwise
I've made two bags using your tutorial. Thank you so much!

TY for an easy to follow tutorial. You explain simply and precisely. We don't need added antidotes like to many others insert and make instructions harder to follow. Love this bag and after you make the first one it's a snap to make another!

How did that go? I'm thinking about doing the same.
I really enjoyed this tutorial! Two questions: 1. Any chance you'll do more tutorials? 2. Any chance you'll talk about hand sewing? I've only done a little sewing, I don't have a machine, and I really love the repetition and old-world-ness of hand sewing. So I'd at least thought I'd ask. Thank you!

Hi Flynn thanks for your questions. We are always creating new tutorials, and they are released regularly so make sure you have subscribed to our KZread Channel to be notified when they are available. It is unlikely we will complete any hand projects as we specialise in machine and embroidery stitching and for us creating with our machines is like hand-sewing to you! Thanks again for the questions, and don't forget to subscribe to our Channel.
This looks great. I haven’t made any bags yet 🙂 I’d love to know, why are the seams made wide (1.5cm) and then trimmed back when bag making?
@EchidnaClub
2 жыл бұрын
This ensures that you don't miss a layer of seam as you are constructing the item. It is a standard dressmaking seam to be 1.5cm wide :)
Hey! Do I have to do the reverse stitch every time? I couldn’t see in the video if you did it or not. I think the only time you mentioned it was when attaching the handles to the main fabric.
@EchidnaClub
4 ай бұрын
@DavidLopez-tf4bn Great question! If you know you are going to sew again over the seam you do not have to do a reverse stitch. If it is in an area of high use, a reverse stitch ties off and gives strength.
I got cotton calico fabric. I’m not sure if it’s a good fabric for a duffel bag.
@EchidnaClub

Yes calico will work fine :) Have fun sewing :)
I’m making a bag with 60cm x 60cm main body pieces. Do the straps remain the same length as original tutorial. Can you help me with where to place them as that will be different to the instructions.
@EchidnaClub
5 күн бұрын
@wazblind The straps would move but it would be up to you where you feel it would be comfortable - it looks to be a ratio of 1:4 in how the straps are placed on the mini duffle bag.

Are you using 1/4 inch seam allowance?
@EchidnaClub

For parts of the construction yes, for the final construction Rylee is doing a 5/8" seam allowance :)

If making the larger bag I saw on your website to make them longer, but would you use the same placement location?
@EchidnaClub
2 жыл бұрын
Hi MaryEllen - are you referring to the strap placement? And the size of the pocket? If you are, you could alter the pocket piece to be slightly wider. It depends on how big you are actually going to upsize the bag.
@maryellenmcphee6620
2 жыл бұрын
@@EchidnaClub the strap placement. The 5” from the top and bottom on a larger bag aren’t going to line up correctly. How did you determine the 5” mark based on the other bag measurements.
@EchidnaClub
2 жыл бұрын
Hi MaryEllen - here is what is suggested on our webpage for this project "if you wish to make your duffel bag larger, simply make the biggest number measurement of your fabric (in this case it’s 15"/40cm) as big as you want, then halve that number for the remaining pieces. For example, if you wanted to make a 60cm bag, your side pieces would be 30cm x 30cm and so on and so forth. Your straps should remain the same size, if anything you can make them a little longer. Your zip tabs should also stay the same size regardless of bag size (your zip size will change with your bag)." I shall include the link here also, hopefully this clarifies the size up? www.echidnasewing.com.au/project/sewing-embroidery-projects/mini-duffel-bag/
Can you make this with Cotten? If so what do you use to stiffen it with please.
@EchidnaClub
Жыл бұрын
@midnightsunicorn Yes you can use cotton, you could stiffen it slightly with our Shape to Create Woven Interfacing: www.echidnasewing.com.au/shape-to-create-fusible-woven-interfacing-per-metr You can also put battilizer in to also help support as well.

What type of zip did you use please
@jackieholmes6714

It is a nylon zipper :)
The zipper pulls you cut out 3:19 look like they are different size to the ones you sew on at 14:05. Did i miss something? I can't get the 5cm x 2.5cm tabs to work

At 29:31 you say and now you can do your lining pieces. I’m confused about this instruction.

Hi Cindy, You just need to go ahead and attach the side pieces to your front pieces of your lining (minus the pockets). So repeat the steps from 24:18 kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZiVvK2pic_ffJM.html
I am sewing this now and when I join the first end to the bag, one corner is very bunchy. I have snipped around the curve and tried to ease in the corners yet the same problem is on the other end of the bag as well. It seems the end pieces may be a bit too small. Anyone have any suggestions to remedy this?
@EchidnaClub

@darlenefredrick8444 Hi there, I would recommend checking your measurements you cut to. It can also be the material you have used so it is important to pin each end first then the centre and then ease and pin the remainder of the sides. Hopefully this will help you.
@darlenefrederick8444

I did consider it may be the material. The bag turned out quite well considering it's the first one I made. No one will notice the little pucker on the one corner ;) I'm making another and will check measurements more carefully. Thanks so much for this great tutorial! @@EchidnaClub
