How to Create a live puppet head in Adobe Character Animator using Illustrator #01

Фильм және анимация

This is my first tutorial for Adobe's Character Animator program. It covers making a simple head that can be animated with a live webcam capture performance using Abobe Illustrator to create the artwork.
It's very simple, really fun and doesn't take a lot of time to get up and running!

Hands down the best tutorials I have been able to find for Adobe's Character Animator and Adobe Illustrator. Thanks for saving me a tremendous amount of time on the basic foundation for a head.

I love that you did this video while you’re still a beginner. I’m a beginner also and sometimes people who know the software very well skip over little steps that a new person needs to understand or not miss. Great job and you got a new sub! Can’t wait to see other videos you do on this subject.

Thanks Tammie! I've been super busy with a new job but I'm going to get back to this program and make more tutorials because it is just so awesome! I try not to ever edit my videos because even when I'm using a program I'm super comfortable with, I still forget things, mess, and more importantly, remember how it was to first learn a program and missing minor things which could be major when taking the time to figure out what I was doing! :)

Yes, you did a wonderful job and I was able to follow along and create my first puppet head along with you as you taught. So as you can guess, I definitely would appreciate you doing a follow-up tutorial on making mouths. Make sure you include the differences in changing the perspective of making a straight forward versus a side profile set of mouths as you have already done. Love your teaching style. It makes us newbies feel that we can do it!!!

This was so incredibly helpful! As a person with a disability, I sometimes find it hard to follow really advanced instructions. You teach this in such a step by step manner that it's very easy to understand. I do have one question though. I'm not sure if maybe it's because I wear glasses and am visually impaired and maybe it's just not tracking my eyes properly; but the blinks don't work for me.

My main problem is the eyes. I want to make almond shape eyes and eyes with an iris and pupil s. And, then next when you know more do a class with using more than one puppet head in a single scene talking to each other. You can look at my problems on youtube Outta The Mouths of Babes. Plus a class on using the midi keyboard

Hi Joaquin, I don't have much time these days as I'm working for a company full time now and what freetime I do have I use to make tutorials but I haven't been able to for awhile now. If you really want to make a character in this program there are people that are far better at it than me AND I know you can hire some the guys ad digital puppets digitalpuppets.co.uk/ that will make you the highest quality characters that you can find! They also have free and cheaper puppets you can modify yourself without a lot of work. Check them out! Not only can they make stuff for you but have great tutorials here on youtube as well which is how I'm learning the program.
