PLEASE do more interviews like this!! I feel so blessed after listening to this episode. Teach us how to be strong in our femininity, society has failed us in that aspect.

As a child of a broken home and a fulltime working mother, now a mother of (almost) two myself, I have been looking for a guide on "homemaking" since we have decided that I would be a SAHM, but I felt so lost, because I have no real life examples. Thanks for this podcast.

I would also love to recommend Jennifer L. Scott and her KZread channel “The Daily Connoisseur”, as well as “Inspired by Nikki”, and Jennifer L. Scott’s book “At Home with Madame Chic”!!

She sounds like a peaceful parent and I love how she ties it in with scripture.

I've been meditating on all these same things recently while reading "Theology of Home" by Carry Gress and Noelle Mering! The biggest thing _I'm_ learning from the book and this episode is HOW to make your home beautiful, but NOT at the expense of the happiness of your kids and the memories they'll make there. My mom was a SAHM and kept an immaculate home, but she was always very strict about not "ruining" anything or even touching anything, even when we were really little. She'd get so angry and upset if we accidentally broke something -- which happens, they're little kids! They don't know! I really want to strive to keep a home that FEELS like a home where my kids always feel safe, not just LOOK like a home, but you can't touch anything.

This reminds me so much of Little Women and how the sisters shared creativity and love with each other every day. Alex, this is exactly what I needed, even as a single woman, but this just inspired me so much! Loved this! Thank you!

I don't know that I've ever seen this podcast/channel. I looked for Sally Clarkson interviews. This popped up. Such a great interview. This is how I want to raise my family. With intentionality. I pray The Lord guides me and my husband in this. Not to copy Sally or be The Clarkson. But to be us. Our family. With guidance from the Bible and ideas from a family with the same ideas/mindset. I am grateful

The next time you see a beautiful ad for Williams & Sonoma/ crate & Barrel don’t think to yourself that’s the perfect life. Instead think to yourself this is inspiring, I really like this piece. Maybe you can’t afford W&S or C&B but you can find a similar style/item at Target, Walmart, ikea ect..

I always said “I’m not creative”. It was such a part of my identity, and then I became a mom - the ultimate creation. Now I love planning her themed bday parties and facilitating crafts for her. I always loved decorating and design and realized how creative it is. And I’m a creator for a living, too.

Listening to this while trimming the tree at 6am to surprise our 5 year old ❤❤❤❤

This was so beautiful! I bought her Life Giving Collection right now which includes three books. I was really moved by this woman's soul and I've never heard of her prior to this interview. Over the past few months, I've been feeling so discouraged because of my living arrangements. Watching this new "trad wife" movement, it seems that if you don't have acres of land, make meals from scratch, and have every Montessori toy you can get your hands on, you aren't doing homemaking right. We currently live in a small apartment and we can't afford to move for a while, so hearing this was really inspiring. Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to reading these books ❤

Got married 2 months ago, still dont have kids. Thankyou for encouraging me to put love in every little detail of the day, to light a candle at dinner time for me and my husband. We built our home together and living here and looking at every corner that we made together makes my home the most special place on earth. Such a great episode! As someone who is always afraid to have people over for fear it's never enough, Sally makes it so simple and not a big deal to worry about it. Gosh this is my goal for the new year! Open my heart and home to others!

I have been reading her for years. She is one of my mentors without ever having met her. The book she and her husband wrote about homeschooling and parenting is the best out there in my opinion. I just wish I had read her before I began having kids rather than once they were already teens, so I’m so glad you are having her on here.

Oh how I love this. Y’all are my people 😊. I have some ladies over on Wednesday afternoons for tea. We have tea and sometimes a snack if I have time for it and we chat while our little children go wild. I wasn’t sure how it would go as I was mixing a few moms who didn’t know each other but were near by and lacking community. What freedom I experienced when I stopped buying into cultural narratives and embraced the opportunities I have as a stay at home wife and mom. Simplified my house, simplified our schedule, and am now blessed to have the capacity to welcome in neighbors, welcome in the children, and create intentional friendships. I was shocked that everyone I invited showed up the first time and they hardly ever miss a Wednesday!

This is so uplifting!!!! Even though my kids are early 20s, I'm going to try to become this kind of woman!

This episode. Sally is so wholesome & full of wisdom!

I love when she is talking about how we talk to our children. I think it's also super important how we talk about ourselves around our children. My mom used to talk about how she isn't a very good housekeeper for example, it's something I struggle with as well and talk about that regularly about myself too and I just think, "oh, I learned it from my mom."

I loved this!!! She is so sweet and I love what Sally did with her kids as they were growing up! Those are just so great ideas to bring into my future family. Sally is truly a giving woman and as we all strive to be that, she is a great person to look up to. She should come back on for part two since we can learn so much from her and since you had three more pages of questions for her. Loved this episode! Thank you Alex!

Great show! Im from poland. Ppl are usually born, live and die in the same block of neighbourhood. When i moved to uk, and together with my friends from portugal and vietnam were wondering of how lonely we feel and why. We came to the conclusion that we lived just under 1 hour of each other. So when we were meeting this was a huge event, whereas we miss running to the neighbour in slippers across the street to let her know the latest news with a cup of tea

Man, I would LOVE that. Thank you for sharing that! I grew up in an American suburban neighborhood, largely without my friends living that close, and I really want to recreate what you're describing in my neighborhood, in my home. :)

Sally has such a beautiful message. While it appears that Alex is not fan of working mothers, it would be great to hear ways to take advantage of the time we do have at home to create a life giving home.

My girls are 9 and 3 so I can def use so much of what she shared! 💗💗 As far as opening your home, in my 20’s, my twin sister and I used to plan monthly get togethers for women our age form church and such. After awhile we decided to just take a break and no one else continued to do it, so we felt it wasn’t necessary to start back up. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is beautiful I was raised with the idea that kids don’t talk to adults and God forbid we had any questions when my parents had company it’s was good afternoon or good even Mrs. So & so and go straight to our rooms and we where to remain there until company left. Unless there was other kids then we were allowed to play with the kids but never to interrupt or have any conversation with the adults. Maybe this is why I’m so insecure and really had a difficult time as an adult having conversations with other adults ?

I wonder if there is a better balance for this, because adults SHOULD be able to speak without constant interuption, and as a guest in homes with lots of kids or trying to talk on the phone with a friend, it is very tiring and jarring to be interrupted during a serious or not so serious conversation that was meant to be with the adult. They shouldn't need to hire a babysitter for every dinner or phone call. I can see the advantage of a such a strong boundary. I also don't agree that children should be seen and not heard, and that it is damaging to kids, just like you said! It does however, make a kid long to be an adult, something most kids lack now because they have all the rights (feeling perhaps equal or superior to adults?) and advantages and few responsibilities. Maybe a portion of the evening with a timer?

She has some amazing books. Also, scale it to your life. I'm way more introverted than it seems her family is. What's helped me is not working with the public any longer, limiting outside classes and bookclubs that weren't lifegiving for myself and kids. And now focus more on the quiet loveliness of being home, and make more quality visits with friends the priority. Hope that helps.
