I actually love a small , cozy, cottage and have lived in a 1,148 sq foot home for 52 years this year!!!! Raised my son here and I am still happy and still grateful to be here. I watch sites like Homeworthy, and although beautiful, I can't relate to that kind of wealth, and space lifestyle.

Take a walk around your yard each evening to be grateful, take a few deep breaths of the country air last thing at night and dance to a song first thing in the morning. ❤ Staying in the family home after divorce is hard when there’s so many bad memories. The first thing I did was to paint the main living area and my new bedroom white and it’s made me smile every time I come in here for the last 7 months. I’ve hung black curtain rods at the ceiling and that’s added 1ft of height to the rooms. I changed out the trim on top of the TnG as it hurts arms and it looks fantastic. It’s like a new home already. I’ve fixed and painted a lot of furniture and doing a black and white with neutral colour scheme. I’m repurposing lots of things and simplifying the yard. I can’t sleep well in the main bedroom so I’m going into the smaller room as a new start. I’m working on appreciating my home as I lived with a narcissistic hoarder and he didn’t want me to have beautiful spaces or space for me. This week I’m making a lux office desk and looking at it like a cat eyeing a new puppy in a home! Learning new skills and gaining confidence in myself. Everything I’m doing is on little to no budget. 😊

Such a great tip on gratitude. It's easy to want more of what others have. We have so much. A home filled with love is more precious than a house full of stuff.

I love lighting a candle after I have cleaned a room. There is just something so comforting about the soft glow and wonderful scent. I think it helps me to relax and it reminds me how blessed I am. Great tips! Thank you!!!

Key take away - be grateful! If you don’t love your space change it! Even if it’s just a fresh coat of paint and lots of decluttering. 🙋🏼‍♀️🇨🇦🥰

Thank you for this sound advice Jennifer. I love this video so much, especially the part about gratitude and social media detox. I took the month of January off of Instagram and realize I feel less anxiety and more time.

Living in the low desert has been an incredibly hard transition. Planting drought tolerant flowering bushes and interesting cacti and succulents is a must for that spark of joy.

So true on the “be thankful” for what we have. ♥️ My tip would be to do “five minute pick-ups” a few times a day. I did this with our five (homeschooled) children for the many years of them being at home. They’re all gone now….so the clutter is far less…but, I still make myself get up, get moving and get to putting things away on a near-constant basis. To me, no matter your home’s interior design, the best design is a tidy one!

What do I do with a pool table that by the kitchen open concept area. Eye sore but hubby doesn't want to give it up. He does not use it at all

Make a nice table top to go over it and covers the pockets. Decorate it so it doesn’t become a dumping ground. When my ex got one I said on the condition he made a table tennis top for it. It’s in two halves as they are heavy and has dowels to keep it together. The underside has felt along the edges that touch the table top for protection. I’m going to sell the pool table and make a lighter base for the tops and use it as a craft table on castors in my studio. Am going to paint it pretty too.

Yes, I was thinking of a table top to go over it but need a sitting area for entertainment. Ahhh so hard when two people differ on decorating.

Rather than create in my home even a hint of a fire hazard, I choose a diffuser over scented candles.
