The crappy thing about Google Maps is that Your Maps can't be used for step-by-step directions and you can't share a custom route you create in Maps. The option to share is there but the link it shares uses the starting and ending locations and will default to the most efficient route. Google needs to combine the 2 options.

I do a lot of hiking and while conceptually it would be good to share routes this way, it doesn't seem to like off road walks. I can use the measuring tool to measure a visible trail, but when I try to walk it, the default jumps from my starting point to the nearest road. Maybe I need to fiddle with it more. Your video has given me something to think about. Cheers.

Hi mate this video is great but i'm just looking how useful for delivery jobs, i have one doubt if we have 10 delivery's in a 10 different places, how can we know to do a particular delivery first after location marking and does google maps shows next delivery to do, which is near to us? ( like so and so address is near to you, so you need to go there first and it i'll consume the time and go for next delivery).

hey thanks for the video ...i use this method for multiple stops but all the time i get to one of the destinations then google gives the option to continue to the next destination and then i have to click it. Is there a way you can automatically continue to next destination without having to click on the continue? cause its so annoying

So you share the link but then your friends need direction for the car GPS or SatNav to get to the start of the walking path. Of course they will all be starting from different locations. So is there a way to create a real time directions that person could interact with to get there. Tracks are great but static.

How can you use this map now for live directions? It only allows it to be viewable, if you want to select a point to travel to it generates a faster route to take not the one you create. I made one for a scenic route not wanting to go the fastest route. Also, is their a way to edit the fastest route and save it as your own? Thanks

No this map cannot be used for live directions, you must also manually select the ruote

Great video and info. Thank you. - I'm pretty sure one can NOT route more than 10 stops/locations. There is a trick to adding more but it's a PIA. - If one is ever in need of wanting to 'stop' at a bunch of random stops/locations... google can not create the "best route"... mapquest, which do not like, can.

Hi, the map you create will not work on directions for car, you can only use it for basic navigation like when you are walking

This is a really awesome and in-depth video! My girlfriend travels to school in a minor city in the USA and she encounters standstill traffic every day so i wanted to create an off the grid route for her so she can avoid main routes into the city and this really helps! Although she lives 135km away from me and i tried to pull the map up and it only shows the map preview and says i can only view the map legend, do i have to be there to start the route at point A or how do you start the route?

How does ride-sharing apps like QuickRide render overlaying paths of driver and rider in a single map? Which APIs to be used for it? It also shows their location and then pickup location and then drop location and finally their end stop. It's a beautiful way of showing it. Please help!

This is great, it helped me create the bike route I wanted, but how do I follow the directions of the route? When I click on the starting point of the route there’s no option for me to engage directions to follow. I have to continuously look at my map and try to follow the route. Please help!

Ok so thanks for showing how to create a route but I came to this video hoping to find a way to use the route. I cant find a way to start route. It only shows it embeded on the map with no prompt to direction.

Great tutorial - thanks. Can you share a google map like this - and get other people to 'use' it (like in Strava) as guide? Like when you ask google to give you direction to reach a location - it tells you to 'turn right' etc. It keeps you on the chosen route.

What if you want to go down one way ..do the block ...go along in zig zag of different street..but in particular direction say site seeing ... HOW TO STOP THE LINE CUTING CORNERS OR GOING THE WRONG Direction??
