People can tell me how to do something and for some reason I don't get it as well as actually seeing it. So you putting the math on paper makes it so much easier. I do that same formulation as well but just wanted you to know that how you presented it is the way I need it to be done to understand things. There have to be other people out there like me that need the visuals plus the hands on. Good tutorial.

Nicole Thomas, TOTALLY AGREE!!! Sunshine Soap and Candle...Thank you for all you do, you're a natural born teacher!👏👏👏🥰🥳just wanted to add what may be a useful tip for some. I'd been canning homemade veggies and jelly for years, bever gave it a thought. Next door neighbour was over one day, suggested laying a couple layers of newspaper on my counter, just in case. Just in case of what? Counters clean easily... " if you have a tiny wet spot...and a jar is on or too near it, hot liquid hits the inside of that jar, its going to crack! Good point, been laying down newsprint ever since. Still haven't had a problem, but that mere act of laying that newsprint down has shown me a few damp spots I hadn't known about, until...so, I just figured, one more trick in the arsenal.😉doesn't harm, gives an extra use for that newspaper...👏👏🙃😎

My question is (and I’m new, so sorry if this is dumb)... but if the fragrance bottle says the FO is for Candles 3-10%... does that mean we can still use 1.5 oz FO per pound?

Just wanted to let you know that if you multiply the total weight that you want, 66 oz, by 1.1 (110%), you would get you how much wax you need. No need for that first calculation :) Then you have 60 oz of wax, with 10% fragrance oil which would be 6 oz, with a total of 66 oz!

I found for me that adding ingredients into the batch and not weighing them separately can be a problem if you add too much. There is no way to remove the ingredient if you over poor. For me, it is best to measure everything separately and then combine them. Especially true if you are making lotions and have multiple ingredients and accuracy is so important. This just works for me.

Hi, I read a post on FB that was interesting and made sense and want to know if this is what you also do. A gal said that if you are making for example a 16oz. candle, you do not melt 16oz. of wax and then add to that 1.6oz. fragrance oil. She said for a 16oz. candle, you would melt 14.4oz. of wax and add to that 1.6oz. fragrance oil to make a total of 16oz. Your thoughts? She said otherwise the 16oz. is too much wax for that amount of FO and you don't get a strong enough candle.

I've never had a problem. If you just add a little it it sinks to the bottom of the melt pool and looks really pretty. A lot of it dissolves in the first burn. I have not tried this in 100% soy wax, it may clog the candle a little in soy wax.

Hi, I would not go above 10% with joy wax. It could be your fragrance. Some fragrances carry much more than others. I would take notes on fragrances that don't perform well for you and don't use them again for candles.

Maths undergrad here: If you divide by 1.1 instead of multiplying by 0.9 to reduce your total liquid weight by 10%, you won't finish with the small discrepancy at the end (the discrepancy being that 65.34 is slightly off of 66).
