Dollar general employee here; appreciate this video. Even for us the app is a little complicated with some of the glitches and the having people get frustrated with some of its restrictions like having to purchase the lower value coupon, the differenced between adding to a list and clipping the coupons. This video helped me understand so i might be able to help some of my customers who aren't avid couponers (and yes, we honestly are very impressed and love to help people who get those massive savings like 50 down to 16), like just some of my regular shoppers who are on fixed incomes or just living paycheck to paycheck. Often people think we're trained in the APP, and we aren't, we have to figure it out and use it to get our own employee discounts when they come up actually. So this was very informative.

@@EntropyGuardianthe app is an estimated total, store prices may vary slightly. You'll notice in the total it does say "estimated" by your subtotal. A trick to making sure you get your 5 off 25 is to make sure all your coupons are in, as well as the 5 off in your digital app all before they hit total; of it disappears asks them to bring it back up. If you are stacking and want to add a paper coupon, DO NOT let them hit total first, have them enter or scan the coupon, THEN total it out. Even if you had something like 10 of 30 dollars of collate products (making it 20) it will still register it as the initial 30 and still knock an additional 5 off making your total 15. Get it a little clearer? Most cashiers aren't trainer well enough to know this makes a dorms l difference

When I started shopping at Dollar General, I kept thinking my $5 off $25 digital wasn't coming off because I'd never see the coupon at the bottom. I found out it shows up on the receipt as "store discount" and a little bit of money comes off each item. Just throwing that out there in case someone's wondering why they don't see it on the bottom of their receipt :)

Yeah it’s wierd for sure. That’s why I always do the math first so I would know. Family dollar just shows $5 coupon whoch is nice

I work at dollar general, and I like to explain this to my customers to avoid unnecessary confusion, as well as tell them the price before I got total, and after I hit total, as the discounts don't come off until after everything is totaled out. I know not every cashier will do this for you, but you can politely ask them to so you can be aware of your savings. My store is very much a community store, with a loyal customer base, so we try to be very accommodating

Yes!! Don’t ever feel bad about it- I’m a manager at my local DG and it’s no big deal to void a transaction. We are honestly impressed by most people who coupon and love to learn y’all’s process! I’ve learned a lot to help me start saving more! As long as you don’t get a rude cashier or your there at closing it’s no biggie! 👌😉

Being a DG store manager, can you please help me with something? I couldn't get any help yesterday and I could not figure out how/where to enter my phone number at the self checkout to get the digital coupons. The place to enter it did not come up on the card reader terminal like it does when using a real live cashier. My local store just put in self checkouts and this was my first time trying to use one. I missed out on $2 off 3 12 packs of Coke yesterday cuz I couldn't figure it out and people behind me were getting impatient. Thanks!

Yeah? As a previous employee, it gets the store supposedly “flagged” for some reason if you void too many transactions in a period of time

Cashier here: just ask the cashier to back up to the previous step before total and they can pull up an option for "prompt number for digital coupon". Once we got total the pin pad transitions to payment method, so just try to put your number in before that. Often customers are busy watching the prices or on their phone, watching a child, the Cashier shouldn't be annoyed to do this for you.

I do too! There haven’t been the best deals and savings to make it worth while.

It's good to know that both paper and digital coupons are deducted after the $5 off $25 total! Sometimes I use both types of coupons in the same transaction. With a BOGO free COUPON - does the price of both products count toward the $25 total or just the price of one product since one is free? Thank you!💝

I have a question why do you check out in the order that you do will it make it difference I’m asking because I had the cashier scan the item then scan the manufacturer coupon the insert my number at the end and I don’t think that was correct my total with coupons and digital coupons was a high amount , could this be the reason why my total was too much because of the way I checked out ?

Can you stack coupons at dollar general?

Hey Bree do dollar general let you stack coupons ? I was told buy a cashier i couldn't use both of my coupons? Smae with Walgreens they wouldn't let me stack.

I'm trying to find a tutorial on how to do digital coupons at self checkout at dollar general it asks for phone number before you scan. I just tried to use my coupon and it didn't work.

Hi. Is there a way to scan the Sat $5 coupon from my phone at checkout even if I don't have the app? Or will simply putting in my phone# at checkout work? I do have an account through their site.

Hi! The only way to use the $5 dollar coupon without the app is sometimes the store's receipt has a printable coupon at the bottom that says "$5 off 25 Saturday the ____" and its only good for the following Saturday. You can keep that and the cashier can scan or type in the code, we do this at my store where I work, and it's very popular amongst the non- tech savvy and elderly. It will still appear as taking off a portion of every price. Hope this helps. If you just put your number in it will not automatically take off the $5, you have to go clip it.

Do you have to have the right location you are shopping at? Mine didn't work with another location 😢

Yes, you need to select the location you are actually shopping at and make sure you selection the option "shopping in store". Deals will vary store by store and this will effect why it wouldn't work. - dollar general employee

I tried the $5 off $25 yesterday & it wasnt taken off. I did put my phone number in before they finished scanning my items. Could that be why it didnt come off?

Scan every item in app to make sure the item attaches and you know the price. It takes a bit of work and time

So if my total is $27 before any clipped digital store coupons, would I use the $5 off $25 first then scan all the digital store coupons that were clipped from the app?
