Papaya Takil or Takil/Kiyaliya Kapaya is the perfect partner of Chicken Takil, the taste of green papayas compliments the taste of the chicken really well, add the flavor of Siyunung lahing (burnt coconut) and Coconut milk textured & enhanced by the flavor of Bubuk.
I remember as a child growing up in Manila, my relatives from Zamboanga City would send us Chicken Takil & Papaya Takil by plane because we do not know how to make it, now here it is we are sharing it you. We thank our relatives for the recipe, hope ya’ll like it!
Ingredients:
1 Medium green Papaya
1 Tbsp. Salt (for washing)
2 Tbsp. Siyunug lahing (charred coconut meat)
5 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
2 Thumb sized Turmeric (sliced)
Chilies (depends on your taste)
2 Tbsp. Cooking oil
1 Medium Onion (sliced)
1/2 Cup Coconut milk
1/2 Cup Bubuk
