HOW TO COOK AUTHENTIC CHICKEN PIYANGGANG

How To Cook Authentic Chicken Piyanggang or Piyanggang manok, also spelled pyanggang manok, is a Filipino dish consisting of chicken braised in turmeric, onions, lemongrass, ginger, siling haba chilis, garlic, coconut milk, and ground burnt coconut. It originates from the Tausug people of Sulu and Mindanao. It is related to tiyula itum, another Tausug dish which uses burnt coconut. The dish is characteristically black in color. The chicken may also be grilled before adding the marinade. It is a type of ginataan.
Chicken Piyanggang can be eaten straight after braising it or the authentic way to grill it first, we prefer eating it right after cooking as the sauce is still there, and for the sake of keeping it for about 2 to 3 days, old ways grill it to make it dry.

Ingredients:
1 Kg. Chicken cut into 4 pieces
1/2 Cup Siyunug Lahing
1 Thumb Sized Minced Ginger
1 Thumb Sized Minced Turmeric
1 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Blackpepper Powder
3 Tbsp. Cooking Oil
1 Medium sized sliced Onion
5 Chopped Cloves Garlic
1 & 1/2 Cups Coconut milk
1 to 2 Stalks knotted Lemongrass

    You can make it on your own, there is a video link on the description area of this video on how to make it, if you are in Zamboanga city, you may find at supermarkets, SM, KCC malls, or may try to look for it on the internet, someone sells it there before the pandemic and its called Pamapa itum (Siyunug lahing with spices already).
