this is the most humane way I've seen it done, in Sweden you boil them alive, and I've also seen a chef chop off their heads... she could have gone with putting fewer in at once, so the boiling water doesn't cool down.. but other than that, yes, i think this is the most humane thing you could do.

Yea it makes you wonder how hypocritical we are (on an ethical level) by eating meat. Like just because we didn't pull the trigger doesn't mean the animal wasn't "done in" in such a way. By condoning it, I feel like (morally) that almost makes us an accessory to their klling/second order supporters. Obviously our intention is not to hurt them and depending on whatever conditions you have, your body might do well with animal-based proteins but I'm speaking mainly on an ethical level. If we saw them to be equal to us or the same as us in their existence, I doubt we would treat them by different standards than we'd treat each other. You wouldn't be friends with a mrderer or content with their actions, but in a way, it's exactly what we do as omnivores.

Humans also need shelter, but instead of living in a mud hut we build luxury condos on Fifth Avenue... We have the options to do better. I luv sea food, but freezing them to death is kinda a mean way to kill them. When u out then in a freezer for 30 minutes they aren’t sleeping hun , they were frozen to death slowly over 30 minutes. I worked at a Cajun restaurant and during crawfish season we were super understaffed so everyone was beyond exhausted. One day after we finished our weekend crawfish boils we saw one crawfish had escaped. We put him in a cup with water and a saltine cracker and named him “Jorge”. One waitress took him home where he probably died but our short term pet boosted morale lol

It’s insane how many people don’t want to think about where their meat comes from. You preparing these animals yourself is somehow more cruel then factory farming where animals are killed in way more cruel ways. It’s so ignorant to get mad at you, an individual preparing seafood the best way you can while being still safe to eat and not at people eating stuff like hotdogs where the animals who went into it were drugged and locked in cages their whole lives before their slaughter which is sometimes being skinned alive or dropped into a pool of water an electrocuted. It’s hypocritical to get mad at her cooking this meal and not every person you see on the internet eating processed meat. Not even touching on the cultural elements of seafood and how westerners will judge it and call it gross and inhumane because seafood isn’t as common where they are from

My point is people only get upset with animals being killed to be eaten when it’s shown to them and done by an individual and are perfectly complacent letting it happen behind closed doors. Why is there so much hate for this woman killing crawfish by boiling them (and first freezing them to put them to sleep!) and not for people doing recipes with pork which is killed in a similar way and is arguably more horrific and certainly less personal and with less respect to the animal. You can be a vegetarian that’s fine and good and you can disagree with this but why comment on this and not any other meat videos? I think it’s because people are more complacent to animal cruelty in the meat they eat when it’s done where they can’t see it which is messed up.

I couldn't agree more! Even Julia Child froze all shell fish prior to cooking them. It's the most humane way to steam/boil them.

Honestly it breaks my soul to see stuff like this. It baffles me how some people can torture an animal because they think it tastes a little better. But some people just lack that sort of empathy somehow. If others want to eat meat that is totally fine with me, but torturing an animal is horrific and completely unnecessary. I am someone that is spiritual and very connected to living things, I always imagine what it feels like to be them. But unfortunately many people lack that or don't care because they aren't the ones experiencing that pain.

Would you tell someone this that is obligated to do certain things/eat certain things because of their culture or religion? Dont know if you noticed but quite a few of her videos are culturally based from Asia. You didn't have to watch this video (it was obviously created to teach meat eaters how to make the same dish, not for you.) @@el1046 me being shocked that some people cause extreme pain to an animal rather than killing it beforehand isn't bullying. I have never bullied someone in my life nor would I. Hopefully this will ignite some sort of empathy and even 1 person will choose to kill their food or buy it dead rather than torturing it first. If you purge them in salt water there is no poop. Purge them for about an hour. For the small batch you have about 1/2 a thing of salt.

Fresh water without salt has the same effect. Salt makes 0 difference but does kill some off.

The meat is bland. Gotta season crawfish boil water heavily so that the flavor can penetrate the shell to reach the meat. She made the butter sauce but crawfish isn’t like lobster and other salt water seafood, they’re harvested from fresh water and that’s why they need proper soaking and seasoning.

You ever see how people make it in Louisiana they just pour the whole bottle I mean multiple bottles in their boils it's crazy

All you need to do is just run water over them until the water runs clear. The using of salt thing was just a myth and waste of salt
