I have noticed that you have to save the patterns as well separately before saving the project or they will not be there on start up.

@loubang100 if you are making beats all inside the box with samples and maybe chopping loops from vinyl or other sources I'd say the lofi 12 xt. If you are writing songs with external instruments and or vocals I would say the smpltrek.

…..is this device worth $429.00 dollars? Since it’s in the ballpark of the Roland SP404 MK2 which one would you recommend? I have an SP but just curious on this unit…

  • @LiftedNoise

The black version is $399 so it is about $100 cheaper than the SP MK2. it's a hard decision. There are definitely pros and cons for each. The sampling and chopping on both are very quick. The sp has more effects I think. One thing that turns a lot of people off with the SP is the sequencing. The lofi12xt sequencing is a lot easier to grasp and is smooth 👌 I like it a lot! Also the step sequencer is more appealing. I do prefer a 4x4 pad layout like the SP. But if sonicware made a lofi12xt with 4x4 pads I'd probably prefer it's sequencing workflow. Hard decisions. Should be based off what you prefer. Someone asked me to do a comparison video on the 2. Maybe I'll do a stream and try to answer some questions. Maybe....

@@LiftedNoise Thanks for the response…I agree with you on Roland sequencing and I don’t understand why they don’t make each pad it’s own track and have 16 tracks per bank? It seems like a ‘no brainer” Roland can really make the sequencing easy with a few changes to the software! I believe they don’t want to move away from the pattern sequencing since it’s. baked in on the panel with a dedicated button etc. but it’s way too cumbersome IMO! This looks like a cool device to throw around a few ideas though!

@knowEgo well..I once hoped they might implement tracks into the Pattern sequencer but I've actually grown to really like how it works and have a new perspective off it. I think sometimes we are used to working a certain way that we want the next machine to fit that. Bit I actually think tracks would kind of be pointless unless they added insert fx per track maybe. Because each pad can be mixed as far as volume and panning individually..you can also mute out pads..and bounce pads if you need. So I don't see as much of a need for tracks now. Also I've kinda of come to the perspective that tracks in the MPC is somewhat redundant. Unless you are using instrument, or plugin tracks. All your pads in a drum program can be individually mixed and effects inserted. You could make a whole beat on one track and still mix it and arrange it with ease. Just got to shift your perspective a bit.

@Blogspierre they are just bare pots, so you'll put the knob over it. A mini screwdriver is included. Did i mention don't set them flush with the body. They need some room to be able to click down.
