Hello i am having a problem. After I converted my file to an mp3 I was unable to reopen my audacity project. I AM GETTING AN ERROR that says "Could not File" and "Could not find the Project Data Folder". I would really appreciate it if you could help me solve this. Thank you.

go to file then go to save other then click export as mp3 download 'lame' if you dont already have it(click the free download button) dont worry it is not a virus works PERFECTLY fine

yeah but is what Mike Russle said in this totally wrong? Ahh you sure? Audacity project developers should've realised that people naturally want .mp3 as an option yeah it's good to have wav and all the rest but mp3 and mp4 or avi are what some of us want

Yep, LAME is the encoder for Audacity mp3 files.

When I go to file , Export , it doesnt give me export to mp3 ☹☹ . Why ? Must I activate something ? Im using Audaciy 3.5.1 . Please assist.

It sounds like you may need to install the LAME MP3 encoder plugin in Audacity to export to MP3.

Do you use this same method for converting MP4a files from a Samsung or iPhone audio? There's one other dialog that pops up after the Export settings in v 2.3.0 that shows metadata tag info. It didn't show in your video.

Hi I was trying to convert a song and it'd says invalid sample rate (96000) not supported by mp3 file you may have to resample to one of the rates .Which rate do you recommend and why I'm getting this message.

The standard for audio is 44,100 or for video is 48,000

A little fast so I had to watch it a time or two but very simple and effective, thanks!

How do you convert to AIFF using the batch processing method? I didn't see the option for it listed in the drop down menu.

Check if you have the LAME MP3 encoder installed and properly configured in Audacity before trying to save as MP3.

Say: can anyone tell me the version number i need to have in order to have this feature older versions of audicity needed extra files copied into it's folder now it sounds a bit easier thank goodness

This works for me on my Mac but it says: Your Tracks will be exported down to two mixed channels in the exported file. What does that mean? Will my file be destroyed? Or is this normal? I am just trying to save my recording on a MP3.

Start with the original file, you can either normalise the file or compress the file and then normalise then export it as an mp3

op - congratulations, you have found the division between doing it yourself, or getting a paid app, or using an online web app that will install malware on your device because thats how they get paid. make your decision about which you will do. if you choose to do it yourself, audacity will prompt a source for the encoder. download that, and you will have what you need to finish the process.

everyone Redownload audacity but the newest version, Like mike said at 2:27 on thsi video. Thats why lame when u download it now its a virus because somebody took lame and made it a virus, And the makers of lame dont need to make a new verison because there is no use for it.

Downloading LAME should help you save to mp3 or try another editor. Adobe Audition can do this flawlessly.
