Thanks DB, I just needed to know if there was such an item, just saved me $300 dollars on a new motor. Thanks again!
That is a great tip and hope you all are not getting too much snow up there. We have not received any here in Arkansas yet, but to the North they have received plenty of snow and ice.
Nice video Don. I'm in Northern Maine and need a heated shop in the worst way. Oh well, maybe when I retire. Take care ol' boy.
Love it Donny ! I make my own in the shop , Works well when the shaft is the wrong size !!

Very helpful to have this information! Thanks for posting:)
Great tip thanks Donny.
Thanks for the video. Well done.
I have heard of these sleeves But never could find one .Thanks for the video on them
Hi Donny , want to put a 15/16 blade adapter/pully on a 7/8 crankshaft thinking of installing 1/32 shim material inside adapter and slide it over the crank, locktight then drill for offset allen screws (3). What do you think .
Thanks for your shaft conversion video. I have a 2020 Ariens Classic 24 powered by 208 cc LCT motor. Would you recommend the upgrade to a dual attachment belt kit. What advantages or disadvantages if any could expect?
Thank you Don. That's very educational for me.
Great video awesome work
Thanks Don. I will be needing a new engine for my blower this will help.
I bought a adapter of Amazon and it worked fine
Thank you dony for your videos!

Wow that was really nice adaptor, what is the size of the bolt that you use in the middle of the crankshaft to secure the pulley? Im struggling to find one.
Do you modify the air filter box on the intake in any way when you re-power a snow blower with a summer duty engine?
are there extensions like this ? i want to put a cvt on my tecumseh but the shaft is 3/4" but only 1" long ..
Can i use that sleeve on yard machines 675 to change adapter for different blade. Use.
Hey Dony is it possible to adapt as 3/4” spline shaft to a 1” keyed shaft for a 1” center bore centrifugal clutch?
how would you convert it from a 1" crankshaft to a 3/4" clutch for a go kart build? Is there some kind of adapter i could use? thanks a bunch
Is there away to convert from 5/8 to smaller or to threaded adapter? Like a shaft adapter extension? I been looking online but can only find shaft adapters that make a larger shaft.
My 1” clutch has a built in key way and if I get this adapter how will the key way work if my clutch has one build it
Awsome video Don! I didn't even know these adapters existed! I think it would also be great to use when building a go-kart or something. I haven't been able to make a video about the spark plug yet, but I think I will be able to make one next week! I've already used the measuring tool a couple of times and it is absolutely great if you're in a hurry or to carry it with you. Have a great day! Greetings from Holland :)

I need 1 of those adapters but I javelin a tapered shaft from a 16hp vanguard vtwin, is there an adapter to it ? I want to keep it to 1 inch , I believe it's 1 inch already bit tapered
Do they make similar adapters to convert tapered shaft to straight shaft?????
Can you tell me if I can swap a Subaru EX30 with a Honda GX390 engine? I can't seem to verify shaft size as this is for a generator.
hay Danny have a dewalt generator with a 270cc Dewalt engine dw177fd-f it was ran out of oil needs a piston and connecting rod not available from dewalt ? what can i use in it
+1 for anti seize. I put that stuff on everything. When we set keystock on heavy HVAC we tighten our set screws, then back them off 1/8 turn and re-tighten. Guarantees they won't back out.
Will this work on a car engine 2014 jeep compass 4.2l
Hi: I once got into this situation I used a piece of 1" copper pipe to bush the pulley down, not on a snowblower though.Kinda pricey at $55 bucks might be cheaper to get a new pulley.

I went to Tractor supply and bought a 2.5 inch od pulley for a .75 inch shaft for $12 . It eas im syock and takes a standard key. Should work well on the single belt Ariens with the Predator 212 replacement engine. But if I had a dual belt I would have made or bought a sleeve like Donny shows on this video.

I have a Kohler 23.5 hp that has a shaft of 1.125” OD and the engine that I am replace with it has a strange OD size that measures 1.3865”. I used callipers to check the sizes. I have looked online and can’t find anything that might work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
My son bought a lawnmower with a non matching motor. The spindle/shaft is too short and the blade is about 1.25-1.75 to high. Is there a spindle adapter to lower that blade?

can you get them in 7/8 to 1'' and 22mm to 1'' i got a Troybilt Tuff cut mower that has a 1" engine crank and would like to put a newer engine on it. the engine is a 5hp Briggs.
Hi buddy i have a GX390 off of a generator with a tapered shaft . is it possible for me to change the shaft or should i buy an adaptor ? to take a pressure washer pump ( 1 inch ) i have very little experience of Petrol motorts ,, any recomendations ? many thanks
Hey dony can u covert from a cam drive to double pulley like in your vid I like to repower my snowblower
Is there a sleeve adapter for tapered shafts, to repower an old generator, to use on a kart?
I'm doing this on a Snapper 9266. I'm dropping a 10hp engine on in place of the 9hp which is really just an 8 for more power. The shaft on the 9 is 1" and 2, 3/4 long. The 10hp is 3/4 and 2, 1/4 long. So I'm going up to 1", and 2, 3/4 with the adapter so the engine will work. I want that extra power. Its going to become a 10/26. 40cc larger.
Is it possible to adapt 3/4 to 1-1/8"? I haven't seen any adapters of that size. Or is it possible to adapt from 3/4" to 1", then from 1" to 1-1/8"
would you have any parts for brigg 28m707-0122 13 hp
Dony, I have a Briggs and Stratton with a 1" shaft. It's iut of a Sears suburban, I want to order an original pulley as I don't have one. The catch, The pulleys are 1 1/8 inch.. What do I do? I can't find an adaptor
I don't think I have seen those sleeves before. Nice that you put a SnoKing on it and not a Chinese clone. Keeps it looking more like an original Ariens. They sure throw snow.

works amazing now!
I bought one of these years ago to repower a leaf vac that had a seized Tecumseh HS50 on it. It was replaced with a Briggs intek 6hp. I used one of these adapter I bought off ebay and put it to work, but after about 10 minutes I had problems. I noticed the muffler was glowing, I shut it down and found the flywheel key sheared. I replaced it and again a few minutes later had the same thing. The 3rd and final time the engine stalled out on me, pulled the flywheel again to find it heavily scored and now the keyway was damaged. I attempted to remove the engine but due to the design a wheel puller was impossible to get on the impeller and after very much struggling between myself and a machine shop we opted to cut the crank off. It appeared that the adapter wasn't fitting as snug as I thought it was causing some play and ultimitly mangling itself into the hub. In the end I had to have the inside of the impeller hub milled out to remove the adapter and remains of the crank. The machine is alive now with an old HS50 tecumseh I got at a yard sale. I'm sure this adapter has some very good uses (like the snow blower in the above video) but for something like my leaf vac or a shredder I'd look for the right size crank shaft to avoid something like what I ran into.
How do i determine shaft size? So i can buy a sproket that fits
how to convert a centrifugal clutch like the gxv50 to a 3/4" shaft?
do they come longer for pulleys?
What if it's go big my auger one is to big what could I use what's it called
How's it going..so how do I order one of them adapters?
I know this is old but I honestly didn't know they made crank shaft adapters. I have a really nice older Ariens snow blower with a really tired engine. My guess is this would do the trick. I hate scrapping the older snow blowers if they are in such great shape.
so mjy set screw on my pulley had been tried to be drilled bit i cant go any deeper even if i use a small drill bit the screw was stripped badly need help
Dynamite video, but what if I want to mount a snowmobile clutch on a briggs motor with a 1" shaft, the clutch takes a 30mm shaft that is tapered 10 degrees
Very much enjoy all your videos! I have the opposite problem, I need to fit a 3/4" pulley on a 1" shaft. What kind of sleeve can I buy to make the crankshaft smaller? ;^)
I need help wiring a Briggs 17.5 old engine was a fc420v
can you take the adapter off if needed?
What size is the screw for the shaft?
Ideally I'd like to have the slot for the inner groove and outer groove be 180 deg apart. That big open slot seems like it would be a weak spot.
I want to connect a generator to a new Diesel engine with a 1” shaft Vs 1/2 on generator Please give me an idea
How long is the sleeve
Hi donyboy73. Love your videos. Do you think the crank pulley bolt should have been tightened prior to tightening the set screws? Tightening the set screws first causes them to be stressed when the crank bolt is tight. Thoughts?
what is your shop called
Great video. Is there a way to make the crankshaft longer or shorter for when you want to swap a lawnmower engine onto a different cutting deck? So the blade sits at the correct height under the deck?
@CT_Taylor
2 жыл бұрын
shorter would be to space the engine off the deck. but longer would be.. well.. you owuld need something long enough that would require spacing it probably..... crankshaft swap to get a longer one.. if im imagining what you say as you mean it.
Great vid - thanks Question: I need to convert a 3/4 by 1 inch shaft to a 1 inch by 3 5/32 inch shaft. Is there a converter sleeve? Thanks

very interesting, how strong would it be to jb weld the adapter to a threaded 3/4" crankshaft and file the key to the correct height? thanks
@metatechnologist
8 жыл бұрын
This is one of those times where you do it and report back to us how it went! For those that wonder, there likely are reported specifications as to the strength of the JBweld. From there if you know what your application requires straightforward math might give an idea whether it would work or not.
1) is that re-powered Ariens an 11528 LE? (924121) 2) How long is the crank...2 1/4" Want to repower my older Ariens 11528.
Always oversize the auger pulley a half inch or so. You'd be amazed at how much better it works. I have a video on my page of my old John Deere that throws snow well over 50 and over 40ft high
Btw I'm glad we dont have to deal with that ammount of snow here haha
Hey I have a question I have a Honda gx 270 1 inch shaft and I need a key for the key way but I need to kno the size

I bought a used pressure washer that the engine ran but it didn’t pump. I noticed that the pump was not the original and had been replaced. The engine had a 3/4in shaft but the pump was built for a 7/8in shaft. Amazon had the adapter I needed for $12, and now I have a good working pressure washer for a total of just under $50
how to make a shaft adapter if the pulley itself has a key
Nice video. Can you go from 3/4 in. to 7/8? Have seen some kits on ebay for doing that but it would be nice to get more than one source.

where can I find an adapter to go from a keywayed shaft to tapered?
@BillyTpower
3 жыл бұрын
I make my own in my machine shop, I'm sure if you look around your area you can find a machinist that can help you, if your wallet is not ziptied, matching time is not cheap.
Here we are 7 years later and I now need to adapt a 1" bore pulley onto an existing 3/4" dia shaft and just like yours my pulley has a 1/4" sq key and the shaft has a 3/16" square key. The wall thickness of the bushing is 1/8". So we have half of the 1/4" key in the pulley and half of the 3/16" key in the shaft plus the wall thickness of the bushing wall to go thru. That's 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.093 = 0.343" which should be the height of the key. I have now purchased (2) of these kits both differently made, got the wrong key in both of them and both sellers refunded my money and said just to keep it. Both of the keys were stepped but were only 0.275" tall which is almost square. I just don't get it. Yesterday I sent an email to a number of sellers (who all advertised they had them in stock) with instructions and asked if they could verify the key's dimensions. So far the responses are like they didn't read my email and just want to sell me another kit like one I already have. Sorry to vent here but this is sort of frustrating and depressing at the same time.
New Crank snow blower engine shaft adapter available through Donyboy 73 . Is there a machinist among you ? TY .
How do these adapters work with a pulley that has a fixed key
@VE1AXC
5 жыл бұрын
Cut out 1/4 slot in adaptor to accommodate built in key inside pulley, lock the adaptor with a 3/16" key, or grind down the special key flush to adaptor, hacksaw, die grinder, done it works well for most applications with key built inside pulley
Very nice way to adapt the drive diameter, i did think it was a little too easy to slide on though, movement means wear, and in time the key will suffer. But a nice generic adaptor :D :D
