In this video Rachel is going to talk about how to connect your chest voice with your head voice so we can begin to sing higher notes and fuller notes with ease.
We’re going to be diving into a bit more technical aspects to singing like what is the soft palate and how you can lift and lower this to create those full rich sounding notes.
Once I understood this it was a complete game changer in my singing career and I saw incredible improvements almost instantaneously.
Rachel demonstrates the difference between how to lower and lift this soft palate and walks you through a couple exercises to help you begin to feel what this is like.
We cover quite a bit in this video so have a watch until the end so you can really begin to understand how to keep a very focused and beautiful sounding voice.

It is good to see a professional explaining it clearly. It took me years understand how to blend registers. The first thing is what exactly to do with your body to get an efficient sound. I would recommend this video to everybody. Very good!

Saw one video of hers and I’ve been binging since. Glad she’s getting into the technicalities and walking through every step instead of being vague like others I’ve seen. This is an incredibly valuable video and she is a brilliant.

a character i’m going for has a lot of notes right in my mid range and whenever i played back the audio i cringed hearing the strain on my voice and hearing the loss of support, so I really appreciate this!

Thank you for uploading this very informative video. 😊 My question is: What happens with the larynx? Is it going down to expend or go up. Because this is where my voice cracks. Your elaboration is greatly appreciated.

Singing should be a natural process. Let the body decide how to open the soft palate. We really don't need to open soft palate intentionally. Imagine when we yell sometimes, we don't consciously think about soft palate, right? It opens automatically. Similarly, we need to apply the same concept in singing. Please do not focus much on soft palate. Again, let your mind and body decide how to open it subconsciously. Please note that too much opening the soft palate intentionally creates additional pressure at the back of our throat. Solution: Observe the shape of our mouth and throat when we yell and practice bringing the same feeling when singing. This is a simple, natural and quick solution. Please do not manipulate anything in the throat. Have a good day !

Obviously the video does not say we will constantly sing this way This is just a demonstration for people who literally can't feel out the soft palate. MY soft palate didn't EVER open automatically. Some people can just feel it out without practicing, but some of us really need to practice and feel out the usage of the soft palate.
