    Personally, I just split all 3 wires to each controller, one +, one -, one signal wire, usually red, black and green..... it's only a 5v @ 0.1 amps so it's not like your going to fry the throttle by connecting two sets of 5v leads, I've been doing it for years....8 or 9 years, besides, if one motor fails, you dont have to rewire to get the other motor to work on the side of the road !!! you can just continue with only one motor until you get home, been there... done that...dead hall sensor

    This only works if you have a single battery pack powering both controllers and hub motors. But what if you had a separate battery pack for each hub motor? simply sharing the signal wire to both controllers wont work. So I wonder, since it is a bad idea to run two separate LiFePO4 battery packs in parallel considering both packs have their own BMS ... could you share just the ground wire between the two batteries? Since each battery's positive is ran to its own controller & hub motor, the shared ground path should serve as the connection between the two controllers on the shared signal wire... Right? If I am right, I have no idea if I am... Is there going to be any issues with current feedback or oscillations? And, will the shared ground path interfere with the BMS on each battery?

    You'll have an electronic diff, power being equal on both wheels regardless of wheel speed. That would be rather nice, but the motors /controllers have to be the same type so you don't have it pull to one side.

  • @MarbleRoller

    @MarbleRoller

    5 жыл бұрын

    But, its a trike...? you either power the front wheel alone, or if its RWD, then you have one controller for both wheels since the wheels are operating on two different paths, where as on two wheel scooters, the wheels share the same path, so a variability in speed isnt felt by the operator really in regards to being pulled left or right...

    yes, follow the black wire from your battery, when it splits in 2 (Y-splice) then find the black wire that goes to the controller/wheel you want to be able to turn/on/off. Cut that wire and add in a fused momentary switch. press the button once installed to turn on/off secondary motor. Some controllers have a wire for that all ready. you could also change the potentiometer settings in one controller to not apply power to the second wheel until you where at specific point on the throttle. For example, The second motor only kicks in when you are at 50% throttle. so when you are going slow, you are only using one wheel, once you need to pick up speed and press the throttle even more, (past halfway in this scenario) the second motor would then engage.

    Thank you for video. Is it possible to use one battery pack to power 2 kits like in the video. What I mean is each kit will have 2 hub motors 2 controllers 1 throttle and they will be powered by same battery pack. I want to do it to try skid steering system but I am not sure if it is possible or not. If it is possible what kind of battery should I use? The motors are 60 V. I have 4 of them and 4 controller 2 throttle.

    Yes you need to know if your Battery pack is capable of handling both hub motors. Usually when you buy a Battery pack it should give the max continuous current labeled somewhere. For ex( my battery is a 52v 24ah with a max continuous current of 45a, so lets say your hub motor is a 1000w 52v 20a, then if you add them together they should be 52v 40a which is slightly lower than the batterys max current, which is a perfect fine.

If you have studied electronics then you should know how a hall effect circuit works. I suggest to do some reading and study more about electronic circuit. Each controller has a voltage regulator to supply 5 Volt DC, applying a signal to the second units might create problems, due to conflicting of 5 Volt DC supply from second controller. You have not explained the current path between two controllers. Take care when connecting two controllers, when they are damaged they are extremely hard to repair, if the program chip fails it is non repairable.

  • @MarbleRoller

    @MarbleRoller

    5 жыл бұрын

    I thought the same thing to at first, But actually, in this setup, There is no current path between the two controllers, they are not connected to each other. The throttle is just a potentiometer. Its the exact same as a dimmer switch for lights or a volume control knob for speakers. If you have 2 speakers hooked up to a stereo system, you dont need 2 separate volume knobs for each speaker... or if you have 4 ceiling lights in a room that all operate off one dimmer switch, adding a fifth light is just daisy chaining off the fourth light. Plus, a simple firmware adjustment to change the values of the potentiometer resistance would fix that problem if it did became one. He could even make it to where the second controller didn't kick in until he was at full throttle, or set it anywhere in between just by changing the start values in firmware.
