Plugging in HDMI cables does not require force. It requires finesse. Got it.

Thank you for a very thorough instructional video. I was able to find what I was doing wrong about 3 minutes into the video, lol. I had the HDMI cords plugged incorrectly, once that was fixed, everything worked perfectly. Thanks again :-)

Hello, So I have a Sony Blu Ray player that I just bought yesterday, and I've been trying to hook it up to my Denon AVR-3806 Surround Sound Receiver. The receiver is quite old. I am able to plug an HDMI into my Blu Ray and my TV for picture, but there is only one HDMI on my Bluray, so I'm forced to use a Digital Coaxial cable from the Bluray to Receiver. However, I don't know how to get the receiver to recognize the blu ray and play sound. The receiver is able to play sound from my TV, so its not a problem with not having the receiver be setup correctly. So, what can I do to repair this problem?

ARC is only a requirement if you wish ARC enabled TV audio to travel to an ARC enabled sound system/bar by way of an HDMI cable

I have a Cable Box, 4K Receiver, 4K TV. I have TV IN connected to my Receiver using the ARC IN and Out ports with an HDMI Cable. I have the Cable Box connected to Receiver with an HDMI Cable. Everytime I turn on the TV, Cable and Receiver, The Cable Box programming is lost and must reload. This takes 10-20 minutes. The same is lost for my DVR Recordings until they Reboot. Any suggestions on what is wrong? I thought exchanging the Cable Box might fix the problem but it did not. Thanks

Why some new bluray players have speaker ports like a receiver? For example Panasonic ub9000 has ports for speakers and is a bluray player not receiver so if a bluray has ports to plug speakers can replace the receiver?

+iHelloway On the front panel of the receiver you'd simply change the source to the source you want to view on the TV at that given time

I purchased the SKS-HT870 7.1-Channel Home Theater Speaker System, with a Onkyo TX-NR515 A/V Home Theater Receiver. I love it, but I’m having some problems getting everything to work through my surround sound system. The only thing that I have working through the system is my Samsung Blu-ray player, but I like to get my TV, which is a LCD TV SAMSUNG 52 IN LN52b630, Xbox 360 250gb, and my JVC HR-VP673u working too. Can you folks please help me by telling me step-by-step what I need to do to get everything working through this system…thanks.

Hello, I hope you can help me with this problem and that you see my "question(s) because of the date on your video. I am having trouble getting the sound from my BD player to come out of my Home Theater System . I have already followed all the steps you mention in your video here. But, the only sound I can hear comes through my TV and not my HTS. The system is an Onkyo HT-R397, my BD player is a Philips player with the only output being HDMI, and, my TV is an LG Smart TV. I hope that's enough info for you to help me figure out what I can do to make the sound come out of my HT System instead of only my TV. My HTS is connected to my TV as you say to make sure it is in the video. I also have a DVD player and a DVDR player connected to my HTS and the sound from both of those comes out of my HTS with no problem. I have also made sure to put the HTS output on the proper one. I hope you can help me with this. Thank you so much.

Can you connect the BD direct to the home theater instead? OR Is you equipment newer ( 3 years or younger ) AND you see the letters “ARC” imprinted at HDMI ports? OR does either your BD or TV have Toslink/Optical audio connector you could use?

In the Blue ray player see if you can set the audio output signal to PCM and, see if your TV audio needs to be set to pcm (many times not)

Both pieces you wish to connect would require a “digital coaxial audio” connection. One outputs to the receiver’s input; both typically are clearly labeled as such

Why in the heck would you connect your receiver out to TV in? You aren't playing your surround sound through your TV. You should connect blu ray player out to your tv input this allows video and audio from your blu ray to send signals in to your TV. Then if you want surround sound you need to connect your blu ray out to your receiver input. Thus allows you to send signal from blu ray to home theater. Or Blu ray out to TV in and TV out to receiver in

You’re right in, there are multiple ways to connect. Some will want their preferred & best surround audio signal. Depends on the capabilities of the equipment a person owns.
