How to Configure a Point-to-Point Link | Long Distance 105 Km PTP with Ubiquiti airFiber 5xHD
This Video provides the configuration needed to create a airFiber L2 point-to-point link. Find the steps on how to make this configuration for airFiber AF5xHD devices. The settings are very similar to airMax with just small modifications that will be pointed out for our configuration.
Initial Steps
Please begin by restoring the radio to factory defaults. This is critical, especially if you are troubleshooting a problem. If you need more information on how to do so, this video ( • Video ) will help.
With your Windows PC or Mac computer configured to the 192.168.1.x subnet, connect it to the radio using an Ethernet cable.
Using a web browser, enter 192.168.1.20 as the URL to gain access to the radio's management console.
This videos bases its configuration instructions on our reality the First Radio is at Kambove (DRC Haut-Katanga) and the second at Tumbwe (DRC Haut-Katanga), The distance between those sites is 105,9 Km direct link. In this Video, I use the second link to get the remote access on my those radio.
Configuration for First Radio Labeled 192.168.1.2
Choise your | Country Code |
Choose the |Wireless| tab, and only change:
Master Mode: Enable
Antenna : Choose kind of your antenna ( The model)
Link Name : Your SSID Name (Net_and_Admin)
Security Key : Your Link Secret Key (Adm1n@N37)
DL/UL Ratio gives ability to split Downlink and Uplink traffic and support asymmetric traffic when needed. (50% The Middle)
Frame Length is essential part of GPS sync functionality. Make sure Frame Length is the same in all the APs you wish to synchronize. (2ms)
Split Frequency : This option lets you configure separate frequencies for TX and RX. This feature is useful if both sides of the link do not have a common, clean frequency. It is important for the RX frequency to be clean; if different frequencies are clean on each end of the link, select the clean RX frequency on each end. (Enable)
Receive Frequency A Mhz (6100MHz) and Transmit Frequency B Mhz (6110 MHz)
Channel Bandwidth Mhz must be the same for your both site (50 Mhz)
Alternative Frequencies Setup up to 3 alternative operating frequencies of your Link. Your link will switch to these frequencies in case of DFS event. Recommended to use Auto Frequency for handling alternative frequency automatically. (5940 Mhz)
Calculate EIRP LIMIT : enable
Auto Output Power : off
Output power (EIRP) : 52 dBm
Max Tx Modulation : You have more choice here we use 6X

User Tips
Select the correct cable. Use Ubiquiti ToughCable Pro shielded twisted pair data cable between your Power over Ethernet adapter and your radio. If the radio is being co-located in an area with a VHF pager, FM or TV broadcast transmitter, use Ubiquiti ToughCable Carrier cable.
