You do not need to purchase those special tools. You can just use a 3/8 ratchet with extension.

Absolute life saver. Started the rear brakes without checking if I needed the tool
I was almost blocked in middle of work and opened laptop to order special tool online, while searching for tool online, also did search youtube and found this video, solved the issue in 5 minutes. Great helpful. Thank you.
GREAT INFO!!!! Before I even started the job. I checked for a reasonable "hack" . I still don't know if my rear calipers need one, lol! 3/8ths here I come!
You just saved me from having to go back out to auto one and spend 113$ seriously thank you 🙏
Been following you since 2013 as that was when i got my accord sport and watched you try out different led bulbs 😂. It was time to swap out my rear rotors and glad you had a vid on this. Rented the tool from auto zone but this was way easier to work with and made good contact with the piston. Thanks again!
Thanks you. 3/8 did the job. Initially it went in but toward the end it was slipping. Thanks again for showing alternative options. 🙏
Just what I was looking for. Thanks for the tip
Thank you so much! This was a simple life saver!
Omg Super On Point!👌🏼 Love The Video Straight To The Point And Saved So Much Time ☺️😁 Thank You So Much ❤ I Knew It Wasnt Going To Be That Tough Like The Guys I'm Around Was Saying 😂
That’s a useful video thanks
3/8 is all I needed?! Most Honda’s rear calipers are like that and I thought you needed the special fitting to push the piston back in. Thx!
Thanks, your video is on point, and very informative, and saved me time and headache 🔧👍🏼
Great trick! Life saver, saved me 50 bucks on a tool I'll rarely use!
Good video buddy saves alot of people headaches
Thank you! Definitely saved me money.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it.

It wont-work on a Chrysler Town & Country. It has to be compressed well turning
Nice
I was just replacing my brake and rotors today and forgot that was what I used the last time I done it
You are bossssss! 💪
Does the parking brake have to be off because mine will not turn
GENIUS! Hope my cooper rear brake looks like that cross.
This mf a goat 😂😂 shit worked in 2 seconds
So is that correct information? "Unlike front calipers, rear calipers need to be turned"? Or is this an alternative?
Tool is needed on a Chrysler Town and Country. It has to be compressed while turnig or it will not go in
I tried the 3/8 ratchet and it was a tad too big and didn't work.
Great demonstration. What about the new hondas with the electronic hand brakes. Is there any way to push back the caliper piston without having a dash light on? Any info would be appreciated.

Need a scanner that can push it back

@@davidmartinez6534 Thanks for the reply. Just did my rear brake on 18 accord(same for 10th civic). It turns out, you can open the electric motor and turn the piston back without the specialized scanning tool. It won't trip a dash light. Hopefully this'll help someone.

the part pushes in the brake so why turn it closed why not push back in

This must be for a special kind of caliper or specific vehicle. My calipers do not look like that. Also, he says "no special tool needed" but cuts vid to where there is something he inserted the ratchet into. My only guess is that's the actual caliper? What am i missing?

Definetly a special type of caliper or specific vehicle. You're not missing anything that is the caliper piston just he has a different type of piston. I'm guessing your piston has like a circle shape bearing in a rubber boot. There is no "special tools needed" to compress them, you can compress those with your hands (if youre really strong) or you can actually use the rotor shield and push the piston on it to compress it. Another way is using pieces of wood and pushing on the piston which is most likely safer than what I mentioned before.
It was definitely helpful but caliper wasn’t as easy to push in so I just ended up buying the specialty tool

Did the tool work any better?
It's nice method but doesn't work for nissan maxima

Or a Nissan 280zx. Probably doesn’t work on any Datsun/Nissans

@Sireal_beats year old comment lol but mine was stuck and end up having to replace whole caliper on right side

@@ratchetthelastlombax3639 lol I didn’t even realize how old your comment was. I’m replacing my rear driver side caliper rn. I didn’t realize that compressing the emergency break mechanism pushes out the piston mechanically, even if the caliper is off the car 🤦♂️
My Mom is V shape so I think I am going to sacrifice sucket cut each side.
Without tool you can lift a giant truck... This video is all mock...
