Do you need to cut them? Or will they separate by baking them and picking at it ?
@warnerbu7lt
2 жыл бұрын
There are many different methods to separating the taillight lens from the housing. I found heating them slightly and then cutting them to be the most effective way for me personally.
What’s the name of the color on the truck?

Did you had to cook them or just cut them instead of heating them ? Lights came out sick!
@warnerbu7lt

Thanks man! Heating them up isn't absolutely necessary, however I found it allowed the plastic to soften a bit which made it easier to cut through with my dremel.

@@warnerbu7lt first timer here, what part are you cutting?
Question here, why bake them if you are cutting them?
@warnerbu7lt
2 жыл бұрын
It softened the glue a little bit and made it easier to cut through. Also the heat made it easier to pull apart once it was ready.

Black RTV silicone
Did you install the shocks on the tailgate ?

no hate at all they look great but why no scuffing or primer? are you worried the paint will flake at all?
@warnerbu7lt
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tanner, the paint that I used was actually a textured trunk/toolbox paint which has built-in adhesion promoter and doesn’t require primer before hand. If I was using regular or automotive paint and looking for a smooth glass like finish, I would strongly suggest scuffing the surface with scotch pads, using some sort of adhesion promoter and priming prior to applying your top coat.

Unfortunately if you want true spyder branded tail lights, you’ll have to pay over $200. Also, I’d advise staying away from cheaper “eBay” lights as you’ll likely have LED’s fail in under 6 months. Just my 2 cents..
