How to Collect the Seeds of Osteospermum/ African Daisy | Easiest Way to Propagate| BirdofParadise

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Grow Osteospermum for free! Osteospermum, also known as African Daisy, is a perennial flower that dawns beautiful white, purple, and other mixed-colored flowers. Sometimes referred to as "blue eyed beauty", it attracts butterflies and bees to the garden, and makes a wonderful ground cover. I will show you a fast and simple trick that will help you multiply Osteospermum quickly and for free. You can do this to grow Osteospermum fast, and on a budget. Osteospermums enjoy full sun, and look beautiful in pots, or dabbled throughout the yard. African Daisy (daisy bushes) is drought- tolerant, which makes it very hardy and easy to grow. AND VERY HARD TO KILL!
They are hardy in zones 10-11 and they are also deer-resistant and rabbit resistant. Seeds are best planted in early spring and fall, but in zone 10b, they can be sowed throughout each season.

    I tried for years to propagate with cuttings with limited success. Last year in early spring I was digging around and saw many tiny seedlings, and that got me thinking I could grow them from seeds, though wasn't sure how successfully, but planted here and there anyway. It's been one year since I did that and now I have good strong mature planted all over my garden where they were seeded. And they are full of buds so looking forward to a beautiful show in a few weeks! Thanks for the wonderful tip. Subscribed!

    When I walk the pup I gather a few seeds along the way. I have soooo many flowers! Hardly ever buy one, maybe once a year if even that. I also cut a stem from a rose Bush, dip the bottom tip in rooting compound, keep em moist after planting. Moist, not flooded. . I make the hole with a screwdriver then place the stem. I have perhaps 15 rose bushes from stems plus the ones I bought years ago. Yes, they take awhile to become bushy, maybe 3 years here in CA, but I’m not going anywhere. They’re very hardy.

    Yes you guys have better planting weather!! So jealous of your English gardens 😍 I would play it safe for now and move them into individual pots. That way you can move them to different spots in the garden if you see them wilting etc. They’re very hardy either way, I would just feel bad giving you advice to plant them out and they die! They’re best to transplant when the weather cools. THANK YOU for watching 😊 keep me updated! So happy I could help 💕

  • @BirdofParadise

    @BirdofParadise

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello! Yes, some wilt and some bloom over time. They also close up when the sun goes. You can make you’re own fertilizer, called compost. It’s very simple just takes some time. I can do a video on that if you would like but basically you add organic matter (coffee grounds, leaves, bananas, old fruit and vegetables etc.) to a spot in your garden. Over time it will turn into compost and you can add that to your flowers to give them a boost. Lmk if you have any questions! :)
