How To Coat a Flower With Resin

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Watch as Jara coats a silk flower with XTC-3D epoxy resin to create a long-lasting glossy display.
XTC-3D® is a protective coating for smoothing and finishing 3D printed parts. Two liquids are mixed together and brushed onto any 3D print. Coating self-levels and wets out uniformly without leaving brush strokes. Working time is 10 minutes and cure time is about 4 hours (depending on mass and temperature). XTC-3D® cures to a hard, impact resistant coating that can be sanded, primed and painted. Adding colors and metal effects is easy.
Inexpensive to Use: 1 oz covers 100+ square inches.
90% Time & Labor Savings: XTC-3D® fills in 3D print striations and creates a smooth, high gloss finish. The need to post finish is almost eliminated.
Coat any 3D Print Surface: XTC-3D® can be applied to both SLA and SLS prints. It works with PLA, ABS, Laywoo, Powder Printed Parts and other rigid media. It also can be used to coat EPS, EPDM and urethane foam as well as wood, plaster, fabric, cardboard and paper.
XTC-3D® does not contain VOC's, phthalates or phosphates.

    This was neat, but I wish the title had said silk flower, as this is useless to people trying to coat real flowers.

    No. You cannot coat real flowers this way. They will have to be preserved first. Look at: RESIN COATING REAL ORCHIDS. Here's how to 1/2.

    I think folks that actually work with resin/epoxy understand YES whatever MUST be dried before or the color will be ripped away. I want to find the best way to epoxy a single dried rose. Tonight i shall try it out.

    @Ethan Hemphill I buy freeze dried flowers from Etsy. This is my favorite seller www.etsy.com/shop/FreshlyPreserved I contacted her directly as I only wanted orchids. Tell her you don't want edible. I paid $20 + $10 shipping for 20 orchids. I have to warn you that when they arrive they are closed and because they are dry very fragile, but I found the way to open them up without breaking them. I will make a video soon.

    So with resin dipped roses do I let the rose sit in the drying crystals and then try to brush or do I just brush it when it’s fresh?

  • @beatricedealba
    @beatricedealba Жыл бұрын

    I want to use fresh flowers in an art piece so I have to make sure they actually last without being brittle or decaying. Once the flower is dried and the product brushed on like this and hardened can I then dip it in the product or in regular resin so that I make sure the inside is preserved as well. It’s very hard to get a brush into all of the petals of a rose.

    Not too much. Resin figures can be cleaned with water or a whipe but too much water is not good for them you can do it once in a while.

    Silica gel dries flowers perfectly BUT the more delicate the flower, the more it'll fall apart when removed. Drying them out makes them ultra thin, paper-like. If you can carefully handle them in that state then apply the epoxy and it'll dry. But in my experience I even skipped the silica gel and went straight to the epoxy and it was slightly stronger (this worked best only on Orchids though)
