Welcome 😊
5 more days and I get half of my staples removed I have almost 20 staples on my stomach and I can't wait to get them removed
One of the things I am doing assiisting surgeons in the operating room. Is stapling skin of clients for closure..x
Can this be used in situations where somebody is stabbed? The intention is to reduce/cease the bleeding til they reach a hospital.

no if there is a bleeding put pressure on it if you staple the wound you would just have an internal bleeding which is worse the goal from the pressure i basically stopping the blood stream in that area

Maybe you could put those hemostatic granules in the wound, then staple it shut and hold pressure? I am no expert, I’m just trying to think of things to save someone’s life. And I am so impressed with all these crazy modern medical equipment that anyone can get
I ws in a car accident snd had 40 staples in my left leg
Really good, niam slashed me on the forearm at the wedding I stapled myself with patron and a surgical stapler, it stopped the laceration getting bigger
Does it require sedation?? Can be used on earlobe?

This is typically done without sedation, especially if its something minor. I just know because my brother had this done when he hit his head and needed some. And im sure it could be used on an earlobe but I am not a doctor

Why don’t they use stitches any more? The staples look down right awful. Guess it comes to saving 10 min

It’s not bad at all and you can’t even feel them. They left my staples in too long which scarred my stomach

Stitches are still used depending on the situation. Like, for instance, I can't imagine putting staples in a joint would be a good thing as you'd risk imbedding it deep. Anything with joints is a pain regardless, but rather have something that could dissolve like some stitches rather than have a piece of metal. That, and in the video, they cover how they aren't ideal for scalp lacerations for similar reasons (that it isn't really as effective).

I dunno, having had the misfortune to get both staples and traditional stitches without a painkiller or numbing agent in my life, staples were considerably less painful and uncomfortable to apply and remove. In fact it barely hurt, while getting the traditional suture was more painful than the injury itself.

@@bstevermer9293 The one with the staples looks better, but the one with the sutures ripped open again around halfway through the process so that's probably not a fair comparison.
