How to Clip Up Safely - Use a Rubber Band!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Anglers often worry about using the line clip on a large open water. The main concern is that a big fish will run hard, taking line off the reel spool until it hits the clip. At this point, the angler needs to open the bail arm and release the line clip in order to prevent a breakage in the main line.
With this rubber band method, you can rest easy in the knowledge that a hard running fish can break the rubber band, or the you can do it manually as the fish runs. In this way, fish losses are prevented and it is simply a case of replacing the broken band on the next catch. Watch the video to see how easy it is.

    @@peterdobrijevic3107 I think you will find that overshotted floats are banned on many venues these days peter. As for the Jigger, I have used it in the past for catch F1s. It's deadly for them because even though they are finnicky biters, they are easily hooked on this method.

    Have you ever tried the MAP Carptek ACS reels with automatic line clip system? On the rare occasion that you get a fish run you to the clip, but it does work.

    I use the MAP Carptek 4000FD reels for virtually all of my general feeder fishing. I was only using the Preston reel for the purposes of this demonstration. I have done a number of videos covering this reel. Here are a couple of examples: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJiLtJuGl9fKYLA.html and kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZONrNxufsyYhLg.html

    I hadn't seen the previous videos. Good reviews of these reels. I have used one for a while but I found the line does come out of the clip every now and then if you are using low diameter line. I use Matrix 6lb for bomb fishing so they are no good for that. Ok if you have 8lb line on. The slightly larger diameter line makes the line clip a lot more reliable. That's what I found anyway.@@FishingwithDen

    Hi Den we have spoke via text on KZread and first a really enjoy all your videos and a lot of very good tips. Just one question firstly I've never tried clipping up the normal way when feeder fishing as it really scares me breaking line on just the casting but even more so when you get a take. I think this elastic band idea is great idea and I'll definitely try it but if the band will brake when there's a take couldn't the band brake when casting when the band is on the clip ?

  • @FishingwithDen

    @FishingwithDen

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi Mark. It does take a lot to break the band on a cast unless you are using a massive feeder and you don't feather the cast at the end. The idea when feeder fishing is to get the feeder to enter the water with a plop and not a crash. 😁😁👍👍

    Hi Den, a little confused here, do you release the line off the line clip on each cast?

  • @FishingwithDen

    @FishingwithDen

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi Mark. You just use it exactly the same as if you are using a normal line clip mate. The only difference is that when a big fish runs away from you in open water, either it, or you, can break the band and thus prevent being snapped off.

    If it's not clipped the force of the feeders hitting it out here tend to pull line from under it as it hits the band. We often are casting 60g feeders big distances so the forces are large enough to do that
