Soaking is key in getting laundry clean. Of course, if there are protein stains (grass, blood, etc) you want to use cold, not hot water as hot water will make them set.

I have a different brand couch but very similar. It was extremely dirty, and I was worried that it may not become white again. I followed your advice here 100% and my couch honestly looks new again!!! Thank you so much for this clip!!!

It's great to see how this couch holds up. I am a new owner of their Ektorp loveseat and I wondered how over time they looked. I've seen some people wash them and then place them right back on the cushion so they don't lose their shape.

I hope you like it! You can totally put them on right away damp, just depends on your household I don’t do that so dirty little hands don’t get them filthy while they’re still wet 🤣

I never fully dry them in the dryer, if I put them in there I only do it for about 10 min and then let them air dry the rest of the way.

Yes I do the big piece about every other time or as needed! It is about the same size on its own as all the covers so I don’t have a problem fitting it and do not have a large washing machine

Thanks! I found another video right after I commented and I saw she said she washes it and puts it back on totally wet. I don't know about doing that, but I will try it.

I just watched a different review saying that it was a poor quality couch. I love the look of it and it looks so comfy. Is it good quality? Do the cushions ever get flattened.

We have had it for about 3.5 years and love it! We like the look and it is very comfortable. For the price point it can’t be beat, since you can wash and/or replace the covers, I guess it just depends what you’re looking for

So irritated they discontinued the Ektorp in October 2020, found that out as I tried to replace my slipcovers and they are no longer around. Does anyone know if the new Uppland covers will work? The Uppland is a little taller and deeper.

I just think it helps get them extra clean and get the set on dirt out! It’s an optional step, when I have less time I only put them in the washer and add the oxy clean in there

Does your washing machine not have a soak cycle? It would sure save the steps of soaking them in the bathtub, wringing them out and hauling them up and down the stairs.

Emily Burn even if the machine doesn’t have a soak cycle, you can soak them in there and then take the water out (move the button to where the water is drained) and then put it on the wash cycle

We do have one small dog, honestly we make more of a mess than him most of the time but I totally understand the concern of dirty paws! We love that you can wash these covers I don’t think I would ever buy another couch that didn’t have that option

I have a golden retriever and a border collie that lay on it all day - it just depends on how often you keep up with the cleaning. We do use blankets though sometimes to help hide if it gets dirty, but usually once a month to clean the couch and they still come out clean and I've had this couch for about 4 years now

How do you make them softer?? Mine is so hard & rough!

They soften up pretty quickly just from sitting on them, and then from washing them. I think it also might depend which of the fabrics you choose

B Temple I’m 5’5 and just saw this couch in person, it does look pretty small, height wise but once you’re sitting down it’s not really a problem. It was nice.

I soaked mine overnight with hot water and detergent but I forgot the oxiclean.. I guess that’s why mine didn’t clean as good as I Hope.. we’ll have to remember the oxiclean for next time! Lol

I've owned the white Karlstad sofa and chairs for years, I also own pets (two Bichons) and I can tell you from experience its the best pieces of furniture I have ever owned. twice a year, I remove the covers, wash in Oxiclean with a little bleach and voila, its like new again. In the past I've own couches with the heavy upholstery fabric, you could only dry clean the cushion covers, but the arms would wear and could not be removed and looked horrible after a year. With white slipcover furniture, you can get far more wear, wash everything including the arm covers and everything looks new again. I'm going on 5 years with my white furniture. I have never had any other couch/sofa to last that long and look like new.

Good guide, but HOLY SHIT that music was AWFUL. Didnt realize it was even music at first. When it came on I stopped watching to run out back, because it sounded like my cat had been sucked into a wood chipper.
