    Absolutely no manufacturer I have come across talks about opening up the system and cleaning the coils....I have no idea why all these manufacturers leave this out. I have a black n decker and all it says is to clean the outside filter, but when you actually open the system up...I have no idea what these filters are filtering.

    They probably want you to buy another one if you come across mold problem. I bought my unit less than 3 months ago. And it start to smells. The filter looks fine and clean but I have to unscrew the cover to actually see the problem. There are small grass clippings in there and it start to rot. The water collector is at the front which is a stupid design, on top of that, it have a small hole on the side in the middle of the tank, which make it impossible to tilt the unit and drain all the water out. The only thing you could do is uncover everything and clean it and wipe everything down. It's very stupid for a $300+ unit. And even after cleaning, you couldn't really do a thorough cleaning anyway, since there are some many nooks and cranny mold or mildew could hide. The only way to pressure wash the whole thing but that's definitely going to ruin the unit.

    Hi Alexis. We're sorry to hear that your appliance is not working as it should and that you are hearing a large noise. Noises like high-pitched chatter, rushing air, and gurgling/ hissing are normal operating sounds that are created by how essential parts of the unit run. If you hear the vibration, it may be due to uneven flooring. Moving the appliance to a different spot may correct the issue. If the appliance is not cooling with the same quality, it may be helpful to ensure that the room the appliance is installed in is enclosed with no openings, as new air entering the room will make it difficult for the air conditioner to maintain the desired temperature. It may also help to ensure that nothing is blocking airflow, the outside condenser coil is not dirty, and the directional louvers are positioned correctly. If you are hearing a sound that is different from these and you are still not receiving the cooling performance you would like after following the suggestions listed above, please reach out to us via live chat on our branded page so we can get more details on the issues. - Damon

    I recently bought this unit. It doesn't cool the room as well as expected. The air is actually cool, though. I guess I need a bigger unit. My concern is that when I turn the unit off it still sounds as if on every 5-10 minutes and only shuts completely off when triggering the safety reset button. It is an energy bill hog due to this "nee feature"

  • @Frigidaire

    Hi there! Portable air conditioners often have a reservoir where they collect condensate (water) from the air during the cooling process. If your unit is heavy, it could indeed be due to a buildup of water. Before you start, ensure the AC unit is turned off and unplugged to avoid any electrical hazards. Most portable AC units have a drain plug or port at the bottom or back of the unit. Refer to the user manual for the exact location. Place a shallow pan, bucket, or another suitable container under the drain port to collect the water. Carefully open the drain plug or remove the cap. Be prepared for water to start flowing out. If the water doesn't flow freely, you might need to gently tilt the unit backward to help the water drain out. Some units come with a drain hose attachment. If your unit has this, you can attach the hose to the drain port and direct the other end into a container or a suitable drainage area.

    For anyone wondering, you have to take the top of the unit off first, no screws, just gently pry it off from the back. This reveals 2 screws on top that will allow you to remove the front panel, which reveals 2 more screws on the sides that will allow you to remove the back panel.

    Good day! Thank you for dropping by! You have 2 air filters because your system has a return duct and an “air handler.” This setup exists for a few reasons. The lifespan of filters differs, so the number of times you need to replace air filters in the return duct versus the air handler varies because they are sized differently. ~Anthony

    How often do I drain my ac unit

    Hi Josh, In general, portable air conditioners should be drained after every 8 hours. The frequency varies depending upon the model you own. Few air conditioners work efficiently without draining for a month.

    How to clean fan from where air comes out in room

  • @Frigidaire

    @Frigidaire

    3 ай бұрын

    Good day! Cleaning the fan on a portable air conditioner (AC) is important to ensure efficient operation and maintain air quality. Here's a general guide on how to clean the fan: Before cleaning any part of the portable AC, make sure it's turned off and unplugged from the power source to avoid any accidents. Locate the fan compartment on your portable AC. This may require removing a cover or accessing the back of the unit. You may also check your owner's manual for proper cleaning.
