Good video. I line the bottom of my cooking chamber with thick, competition grade tinfoil. The day after a cook, if I’m not going to use it for a week or so, I just throw away the tinfoil and boom. Clean chamber. I clean the racks after every cook by filling up my wheelbarrow with hot soapy water. Takes a couple of minutes and the racks are spotless. I wouldn’t wash out a smoker on concrete. The grease and shit can stain. I keep mine in the shed as well so it’s never out in the weather so no rust issues. A clean smoker is a good smoker!

Great video man! I have been looking on this smoker for a while now. As you said earlier, there is almost no videos on YT regarding these workhorse pits. I live in Norway, and these are the only ones that is "easily" available with this quality. Im looking at the 57, almost ready to pull the trigger on it. Its expensive over here, but think it will last a lifetime. Keep it up, I enjoy your videos :)

most pit builders have a raised piece of metal where the opening is by the firebox so you don't have to worry about grease flowing back into the firebox and you can also put water in the bottom of your cook chamber to use it as a water cooker.

I found a way to avoid the grease going into the firebox.. I put a jack under the fire box and raise it a little bit and everything goes in the drain.

Good idea or bad idea? Definitely would still do the burn after also. Keep up the good informational content.

Wow, very nice pit, I am thinking about getting one but seeing this vid and your brisket cook vid I don’t know- it look pretty dang big, that firebox looks cavernous!! What size splits are you using and it looks like you use 1-2 per 45 minutes or so? Good video it’s a good thing to keep up with the smoker being clean inside doesn’t take long for it to get down right just nasty and dangerous especially on a beautiful smoker like that last time I messaged you I told you I ordered in 1969 but realized for only 400 more dollars I immediately canceled the order and got a 1975 I just think it’s worth the extra room my question to you is I know that they put linseed Oil on the outside and bake it before they send it to you how often do you think you’re going to be doing that as a maintenance because the outside is just beautiful just thought I would ask because you had mentioned that there was a little bit of rust starting on the firebox thanks

I heard you mention you don't use the top rack often. I ordered mine without it because I don't think I'll need it (so much room). Also, the extra temp guages on top I think will just make my goal to get even Temps more complicated... more simple I guess. In one of JD/WH videos it says it cooks better with 1 rack only too.
