You can also use scissors to cut up the clumps. It helps a lot. Remove what you can then put your brush in hot water. It really helps getting the oils off the bristles 😊

A bowl of hot water (I use hot sink water and pour a BIT of boiling water from the kettle) and blue dawn 3. Let the brushes soak until cool enough to handle by hand. 4. scrub the two brushes together vigorously. Each brush cleans the other better than any tool I’ve ever used. No more lint bunnies.

I also use a wide tooth plastic comb and not a brush. I have pin straight hair and let me tell you its so much healthier and better for any and all hair types to not use a brush. Its just too easy to use too much force and rip your hair by accident when using a brush. Its also easier to clean and quicker. My hair has grown so much since ive stopped using a brush four years ago. My hair is hip length now. Highly recommend everyone give up their brush and switch to a comb at least temporarily just to see for yourself the difference it makes.

I have a toothbrush I keep specifically for cleaning my hair brushes. I remove the hair with a rat tail comb, squeeze a little shampoo onto the toothbrush, run my tap on the hottest it will go and give it a scrub and rinse. I set them to dry on a microfibre cloth. I also scrub my rat tail comb and wide tooth comb. I do this roughly every 4 days because that's how often I wash my hair and I don't want to use dirty tools on clean hair, but in between whenever I use my brush I quickly and roughly remove trapped hair. Maybe that would be overkill for you or maybe that will work well for you as it does for me. But yeah that's how I do it.

Thats why I shampoo/clean my hair brush everytime I use the shower or when I'm on the toilet. Although I now switched to a knobless hairbrush which just makes it easier. Also those aren't 'dust bunnies'. The 'oil' that your scalp makes is a mixture of squalene and wax. That is your brush removing the wax from your hair, which is why after using the same brush without cleaning it can make your hair greasier. Almost like ear wax if that helps. Its not gross, but its your bodies natural way to protect your hair from split ends. We just messed with our scalps balance too much that we don't produce enough squalene to provide movement all the way down to the ends making it a bit more even. I stopped using shampoo (on my hair) and now only use silicone free conditioner and no one can tell the difference. Shampoo is not worth it unless you are washing something out of your hair.

Shampoo it thoroughly and tap it against the side of the wash basin (bristle side hitting the basin). Do it repeatedly, and all these suckers should pop right off. Plus, it helps to squeeze the water out of the cushion, which is important as the inside can get mouldy if not dried properly. Set it upside down on a windowsill by an open window for a day to get 100% dry.

Most of that work is unnecessary if you just use dish soap instead of shampoo

remove hair with whatever tool works for you, I use a rattail comb. Then I use a nailbrush to dry brush it to get rid of anything that the first treatment didn't. You can also use a papertowel and rubb that against your brush to removed the bunnies. It's usefull inbetween cleanings. Then soak in shampoo + warm water, brush with nailbrush to get it really clean. Rinse and let dry. Like brand new.

from my experience that's mostly fibers coming off of your blanket getting stuck in your hair and onto the brush. i once freaked out because they were green but than i realised it's because of my new bright green blanket

I use brushes for brows and just brush in between comb teeth. I add soap, shampoo or shower gel. It is really effective and also doesn't damage and bend the teeth of my hairbrush)

I have no actual proof, but according to my mom-foresics, most of the “dust bunnies” that remain after removing your hair from the brush are actually composed of lint fibers from your clothing. You will notice you get more if you use/sleep with plushy/minky fabrics. They can easily get caught and stay in long hair between washes. Before having children vs after, the amount of those dust bunnies that would accumulate in my brush or drain (if you have one of those fine mesh ones in your shower) has doubled. And if you compare it to the lint collected from the dryer lint trap, I’m sure you’ll find it’s almost identical.

I use a rat tail comb and pick through each space. It is quick and works pretty well too. If there are any fuzzy left over I use a dense brush and “brush” through the brush lol.

I've found that using store brand products creates this issue with the Wet Brush. Since switching to organic shampoo and conditioner, I have not had this gunk on my brush at all! It's your hair products

Warm water, one tablespoon apple cider vinegar, one teaapoon baking soda, comb, and a towel. Soak brush, use the pointy end of comb while it is resting in the water (do it over towel, it will splatter) then rinse under tap water, tap dry on towel, let air dry for an hour or two and way less effort

After removing all the hair, give it a good soaking in baking soda. Softens up the oily dust bunnies to make them easier to remove but you always gotta scrub.

Lint feom your terry cloth towels. It is reduced if you use other things to dry your hair that don't shed lint so much. Also, of you remove the hair after ever brush by sliding your finger up the back of the brush from handle to tip, then grabbing the hair in one handful and pulling it off, you pull off most of the build up just by removing it every time.

I grew up cleaning the brushes by rubbing them against each other (in one direction) so if you can't/don't wanna get the "tool" you can try that instead

Use the fatty part of your palm and rub the dry brush in one direction until the hair comes off into a ball. Next wash your brush with drop of dish soap and hot water. A wide tooth comb can help get any excess hair out. Take an old towel and rub firmly in one direction a few times till it’s dry. That’s it. If you have any little bit of lent left over use tweezers or don’t worry about it. Pro advice, you don’t need to buy extra stuff to clean a hairbrush.
