Thanks for all the tips and comments about service mode guys. In the past I've put the ignition on, allowed the wipers to 'wipe' and then kill the ignition halfway through; quite why I didn't think ahead to do it this time.. It is frustrating though as once the screen's all prepped and clear, you do have to allow the wipers to fall to their neutral position again; potentially undoing all your hard work! Also, I had hoped to mention that the cleaning methods seen translate to inside your home, too. Particularly useful for laptop screens, monitors and televisions (work small areas, half the screen at a time) Also, Gyeon Waterspot Remover working wonders on shower screens in the bathroom!

I just came to the comments section to mention service mode to you. I was surprised to watch you struggle and not use this, but hey ho, you can't know everything on all models and cars. I had to google this myself for my Golf R when I got it. Do you clean glass like this on all details? or just on specific higher end details?

100% agree. Sure glass cleaning isn’t the most thrilling. But it’s either 40 mins to learn to do it right, or a ton more time trying to figure out what we’re doing wrong... lol I’ll take any info I can get. Thanks Jim appreciate the video.

Jim love the video, however top tip put the wipers in service position, in the menu of VAG CARS or normally ignition on, off then hold the wiper stalk down for the floor and the wipers move to the vertical so the can be lifted free of the glass and changed. This make cleaning and application much easier

I use Gyeon Prep on the inside glass but don't follow up with any other product, I find it leaves the glass clear without any residue or smudges/smears. I started to watch another one of your great videos and thought maybe I would get fed up of a video this long just on one subject. Oh boy was I wrong, picked up so many tips & tricks and actually found it really enjoyable and loved every minute. I would comment on one subject of wiper jumping as my old VW Passat rear wiper always made a noise even in the rain or just a quick screen wash. Over the years I’ve had new blades being fitted by VW to get a pass on the M.O.T. This problem lasted for years until I used wiper blades uk and they picked out a Aero blade that would fit the old style and would hopefully stop the problem and also look nicer as well and would be with me next day. I was not sure and thought of just going to Halfords but they picked out the same old blade. I spoke to Wiper Blades UK again and they didn’t mind me calling twice within an hour assured me that it’s a straight forward swop and the pack would came with everything plus different types of plastic fixings.I bit the bullet and went for it and placed my order. The blades arrived well packed and once fitted I’ve not had any noises since, so yes definitely clean your glass properly but maybe just maybe changing your old style wiper blades to a newer style and this also may stop the dreaded old wiper blade noise and lifting at high speeds.

Thanks for this Jim - lots of info to perfect my method. By the time I’m cleaning my glass, I will have taken off my gloves as I’ve finished the wet washing stage. I will now keep them on or put. A fresh pair on. I use ONR at 1:256 to clean glass as it doesn’t flash off quickly. Gives plenty of time to switch to the second cloth.

Hi Jim another great vlog and great to see you doing some how too’s incredibly valuable tutoring Thankyou. You may know or someone else may have said but there is a wiper blade cheat on VW and I’m assuming Audi’s too, ignition on , activate wiper and it should stop in the up position which allows you to lift the blades clear of the screen and bonnet, clearly you’d need to do it before applying the coating etc, hope that helps, or maybe useless info lol. Thanks again 👍🏻

37:00 There is a mode to get the wiper all the way up. Usually, with the car unlocked and the engine off, you pull the wiper stock to the full speed. This will prop the wipers to the maximum position, and they will stay there. This way you can either clean them without fighting with them and the bonnet; and also you can change the wiper blades. Good video, and very good advice. Thank you, Sir!

Hi Jim. Firstly, many thanks for your content, its great to have you back. Cracking video on glass, and it would appear speed is the key, something I will be taking forward in to my cleaning regime. I have a track car (Mitsubishi Evo) and have converted the glass to lexan race windows on all but the windscreen. A few years in a they are beginning to look a little foggy and scratched in places. Do you have any recommendations for what could remove them and restore the window's transparency? Many thanks, keep up the good work sir...........

Very good video Jim. Invisible Glass make a paddle type device that makes cleaning the front and rear screen much easier.

Great work Jim, many are cleaning glass outside, so that shade on/off concept more important. My Volvo estate has lots of glass, take care. #DW

great video Jim, good cleaner (Gyeon or AM Glass for me), good clay bar (AM Clay) and cant beat some good TRC cloths - waffle weave are good, and wife 'borrows' those and cleaner for the interior doors & mirrors in the house. I sometimes forget to clean the wiper blades too. Would like to try a glass sealant like Gyeon View Coat, but testing Angelwax H2GO just now, previously just used the ceramic spray used on the paint work.
