Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and support. Yes, blinds as an add-on is an excellent idea. It is organic to your business - and can be done during the months of the year when it's too cold out to clean windows. I LOVE the idea. Keep me posted, and let me know how it goes. I'm here rooting for you. 👏

@@jaxt7197 As newlyweds many moons ago, we installed mini blinds throughout our new home. We didn't have two extra dimes to rub together so when it came time to deep clean them, we took them down and laid them out on an old comforter in the driveway, cleaned them with dish soap and a soft bristle brush, hosed them off and left them to dry in the sun. I came to the same conclusion as your Mom -- no more blinds! :D

With a first time cleaning, I always vacuum with a brush attachment. It removes most of the dust and it also gets into the spots around the strings. This really helps not push the dust around. Then I go over it with a dry microfiber. On a maintenance clean, I use a Swiffer. Most blinds don’t need a cleaning solution on them unless they are in a kitchen or bathroom.

I hang the blinds from shepherd hooks in the yard. In order to secure them to the shepherd hooks, I tie a length of cord around each end of the header. A strip of velcro also works. Next, I spray both sides of the blind with a de-greaser, and use a scrub brush to clean stubborn spots. Afterward, I rinse both sides with a garden hose then let them drip dry. A clean broom also serves as a good scrubber if the blinds are not too grungy.

@@AskAngelaBrown Glad I could help. If you don't have shepherd hooks, I would assume the header could be hung from the hooks of a garden swing/glider, using a bit of rope and/or bungee cords if the header is not wide enough to reach the hooks holding the swing. A sturdy tree branch might also serve as a place to hang the blinds. We have an A-Frame in our backyard which was used many years ago to remove an engine from a car. I'm seriously considering trying that out next time instead of setting up the shepherd hooks. The thinner ones tend to bend unless you put two close together.

When we first got our cabin it had mini blinds that we didn’t want to replace right away. However, they were in serious need of a deep cleaning. What we did was lay them out on the lawn on a really hot day and spray them with a degreaser. We hosed them off. Flipped them over and repeated. Hung them on a clothesline to dry in the sun all afternoon. It was a lot of trouble but it was cheap and it worked.

  • @AskAngelaBrown

+Cornbread Oracle hey thanks for posting this. That is the easiest way to do it. But when we have Professional House cleaners take them down haul them through the house, and set them up outside, we end up usually breaking one or two of the mini blinds off - and then we have to replace them. If you’re the homeowner with the intention of replacing them anyway and you can do it carefully so you don’t break them - that’s always the best bet. Better to reuse and recycle then replace. 🙏Thanks for bringing this up. I appreciate you. 👍
