My car will start up fine when cold but if I turn off the car and try to start it after running temperature, rpms struggle to leave the bottom of the gauge unless I nearly floor the accelerator, hold around 3,000 rpm and slowly let my foot off accelerator to let it idle normally. Drops rpm really bad when I shift into gears. I keep the car running and just lock all my doors and use a spare to get in when I have to make quick trips to the store and back without parking my car for at least 2 hours before it will start up normal.... I'm thinking a list of possible reasons. Throttle body is one of them... I noticed neither one of my fans off the radiator is functioning either, but I don't ever get above running temperature like the car is too hot. Noticeable burned rubber smell after driving for 30 or less minutes, I've read that can be a sign of bad alternator. Plus the engine power in general is getting worse and worse. Still never seen the engine light turn on and I've had my rd1 since 2006. Not trying to get free consultaion but I'm also broke and need to trouble shoot repairs so any local mechanic doesn't play the mark up game with me.

This is one that definitely has a lot to it and it's really hard to diagnose over a post I would seriously try to look for a decent mechanic that you can trust and try to get everything diagnosed that's causing the problem and then go from there about I'll fix the problem.

I have this gen crv, im looking to remove the metal box the air i take goes into because i find it really ugly in the engine bay, does anyone know if removing this and putting an oil breather to the valve cover would effect the car at all? ( The box between the valve cover and firewall) i cant see anything obline about its function other than to store air. But i have an after market intake on kone so air is free flowing anyway!

I mean you can actually remove it and cap it off I wouldn't recommend it it is an intake manifold design to make more torque for the motor when they changed specs in the cams and a few other things later on that generation so you'll definitely be losing some low on torque.

I cleaned throttle body but it started to idle surge any idea what it can be?

That could be your idle air control valve but first thing to check is if you're low on coolant or have it leak somewhere.

I was told that because of the throttle body that’s dirty (possibly) that anytime I turn on the air the car shuts off. Is that true?

It is very possible if it is so clogged and dirty or damaged it could cause the car to shut off but there is many other things that they could be so it's hard to tell without being the one to take a look at it in person.

I’m dealing with this issue today, my 2001 has been stalling when I come to a stop if the AC is on, so I’ve been turning the AC at stoplights and stop signs. This helps. Today I’m adjusting the valves, replacing IACV, and cleaning the throttle body.
