I will wipe off the tops with a drop of oil on a patch and then a dry patch. You can disassemble them and wipe them out if they get gritty or dirty but otherwise they don’t need much maintenance.
Nice style. Learned knowledge. Thank you.

Clenzoil is a great CLP. I use it often. I like Slip 2000 EWL. Both are non toxic, no fumes. As for bore 🐍 I prefer Otis Rip Cords. They hold up longer & have Nomex fibers. Easy to use while on the gun range. Swabs are handy: Q tips or bigger barrel cleaners. Glocks do not need tons of oil or CLP. You can field strip & clean the Glock mags too. They make tools to aid in cleaning.
You shouldn’t put oil on the Breach face, it can contaminate primers if you carry, it can also get oil in the firing pin channel, which you don’t want. Thanks for the video.

I always finish that portion off with a dry patch. I also mention that while cleaning magazines you want to keep oil out of the mags so the primers stay dry.

@@travisp11 good stuff. I’m a rust-phobe and it took me a while to trust not having to use too much oil on GLOCKs. When I store my guns, I still coat them, but regular use guns I use it sparingly as you mention in the video. Thanks again.

@dankeglock Break Free makes a special "museum" grade CLP for long term storage or packing. I've never used it but some say it works well. I mainly use Slip 2000 EWL or Clenzoil spray. I used to use Froglube CLP 🐸 but that can leave a sticky film, white residue.
just bought this gun took it to the range today, shot about 1,000 rounds through it to day. Watched this video (paused a lot, my gun was very dirty at this point), thanks for the break down.

Started using Clenzoil because of your cleaning videos works great at cleaning! , do you re oil before hitting the range or does it stay on ?
@travisp11

I haven’t been re oiling before range trips unless the firearm has been in the gun safe for a long time. Even then it is just a minimal amount and mostly for the BCGs of my ARs or the barrels of my pistols.
Great video for a superb sidearm.

Hi if the glock will be stored for an extended period without use. Example 5 months. Is it best to have the trigger depressed? Or kocked in the ready to fire position? Do you damage the inside of the gun in anyway depending which method you store the trigger in? Thanks
@travisp11
Жыл бұрын
My G17 Gen 4 and Gen 5 sit for 5-6 months at a time with a round in the chamber and the trigger cocked. They only go to the range a few times a year and I’ve never had an issue.
@dankeglock
Жыл бұрын
Springs wear from repeated compression and expansion, sitting in a steady state won’t noticeably fatigue a spring, so you don’t need to depress the trigger when storing the gun. I’ve had guns sit for years and they were fine when I shot them and I’ve also left mags loaded for over three years and they worked fine for thousands of rounds.
So I have this exact gun but a PAINTBALL gun, I bought CLP 8oz red liquid it says it does it all cleans lubricates stops jamming ETC. BUT I CANNOT OPENT HE GUN I cocked it pack and also tried holding it back a quarter all lengths holding it back and the thing just wouldn't come down. The thing on two sides that look like a switch that you did when you held the gun with one hand and your other hand with the other one. It just wont budge???? is paintballs guns meant to be taken apart or not?

I honestly don’t know. It may have some other sort of release for the slide
What if I have 5 fire arms? Should I get a seperate boresnake for each gunnn?

No. You can share if they have the same caliber.
Great video, but one question, wont the cotton get sticked to the sides of the gun, making it not that useful for cleaning? Im a new glock owner and have some doubts about using cotton to clean, thank you
@travisp11

@@lucioagrande3335 when’s the oil dries off a little little bit you can just brush a cotton right on you to take a dry patch and that’ll brush off the cotton residue it doesn’t really hurt anything
Do I have to do all of these if I bought a new glock? Or it’s already lubricated?
@travisp11
Жыл бұрын
I always clean every gun that I buy new or used. I believe the instruction manual asks you to clean it before you go to the range. Many of these guns have a heavy machine oil that is used in their assembly which can get dirty inside quick.

why do you only use oil? and not bore cleaner?

The oil that I use is a CLP so it actually cleans and then lubes.

The ejector does curve in a little bit. If the part is there and the slide will cycle, the ejector is right where it needs to be.

I would contact Glock and let them know you need a new barrel. I know the coating on the Gen 5 is different from the previous Gen Glocks and I don’t think it is as durable.
so much easier cleaning a handgun than an AR

Too complicated. Can't you just hose it down with WD40 and wipe off exess? Cleans and lubes all in one and you don't even have to take it apart.
@travisp11

I wouldn’t use WD40. It attracts grit and grime.
