Absolutely do not wiggle wire connectors by the wire, you run a massive risk of them snapping. Gently push up from both sides of the connector

Better running efficientcy than the fat ones and the original official first ones ever made. Watched a decent video where temperature and microphone devices professionally means tested all 3 consoles running the same into the same monitors game for the exact same duration of time and ps3 Slim was best results.

I did it, after a year of playing the power pack was totally clogged and blocked with dust, it took me hours to put it back together because I kept putting the wrong screws in the holes.

It’s super easy for real a 13yo kid can do it (I m 14yo and I did it with my ps4 which is actually even more harder)

When you take the fan off, make sure you know exactly which screw you took out and where because that same screw has to go into the same exact spot or else you’ll be sitting there for another hour or two trying to figure out where four screws go. They are all different sizes and so you don’t accidentally break anything they need to go back into the same spot!!!

This is all good stuff but if you really want clean your ps5 you have to take out an additional 100+ screws to access the heat sink. Sony built this thing like it has some secret sauce hidden inside

Do not use compressed air. You will pack dust into smaller compartments of the system. Use a vacuum with a brush attachment.

i went to buy the T9 screwdriver youtube told me to use and it still didn't work, luckily i had an extra small size 1.5 flat head screwdriver that worked well on the PS5 screws. so you can use that if you want

This will only work for so long before you'll need a complete service - but its still a good way to keep on top of it for sure! Also very important to brush the vent holes on the PSU because it can be mistaken for liquid metal problems if it starts randomly shutting off

Yea mines been shutting off frequently but only on certain games. Other ps5 ones work tho.

1) you’re blowing air into the unit. 2) you’re tugging on the actual wires to pull out the power plug for the fan.

Use a micro flathead screwdriver. It'll fit in the security screwdriver slots. It works just don't force it or you'll Strip the screws

I'd recommend to leave the console in a open area when I went to clean mine there was hardly any dust after a year I had it for and it looked nothing like that

True, they are. I wanna completely clean mine but it's a £570 system 😬. I guess it'll be easy because taking the ps1 apart is simple. Not being racist but the Japanese are smart in construction.

You still have the heatsink that's on the motherboard to get to if you want to do it right. This is a temporary band aid clean up.

Gotta be a goddamn engineer. I had to install a storage unit to increase my systems memory. I was terrified that I was messing it up. By the time I was done I felt like I was about to get my damn engineer diploma.

If I were the manufacturer of the console, I would put a filter in the air intake and clean it monthly... I think it's a great idea and the inside of the console stays very clean.

They are normally Torx screws and I believe they still are, you can go online and buy a torx set they always come in handy now and again

I’ve had my ps5 for 2 years and dusted it once and I just dusted it today and it literally looked a million times cleaner then this, all I did was use a vacuum on the dust collectors and wipe it down with a rag and it was as good as new

I just open the covers, and hoover the fan both sides and vents once every 8 months, seems to be sufficant.

Bro forgot to mention that you need to be careful with the screws, I hard to learn the hard way after cleaning my PS5. Some of the screws wouldn’t fit and I couldn’t remember which screws go where but in the end I figured it out.

Do not use compressed air. Compressed air condensates and liquid forms inside the can. That liquid will mess up the innards of the PlayStation when the fan starts spinning, which in turn will throw the liquid to the more sensitive and crucial parts of your console

Air compressor not too high will blow it all out without taking any clips off

deeper inside are more cooling ducts that cool the power in the back and whole lotta dust by the looks of it inside of that ps5 is caked up i had to take mine apart further to reach the ducts near the disc drive. so yea..

I hope the next ps is not that terrible to clean.... I'd break the cables I know

STEP ONE...Take the covers off and use a vacuum hose to suck the dust off of the fan...STEP TWO...Put the covers back on...Thats it...Youre done 👍

Attention!!! Do not forget to blow air deep in the ps5 way at the bottom. 9 outa 10 times the power supply is critically clogged which will overheat and shut down your ps5. Inside the fan hole and way down. Use a flashlight.

Owned a ps4 for more than 10 years, only cleaning the outside of the vents, still works like new, no need to unscrew anything....

Touch something metal before you go digging around in there. Static electricity in your body can and often times will make its way into your day and ruin it playing with circuitry. 😢

I removed my fan and cleaned now there's a freaking whining noise and I had to go buy a new fan.😂

I literally clean my ps5 yesterday or should I say last night pretty easy I didn't disconnect my fan though next time I will

My ps5 was turning off by itself so I had to clean it. Took the panels off and just blasted all the vents with compressed air. Didn’t remove the fan or disconnect any wires. Didn’t use q tips or anything else. Just wiped it down with a polishing cloth and that was it. Now it’s runs just fine.

It's insane how fast the ps5 gets dirty. They should have a screen to block the dust.

Use a vacuum and toothbrush to keep things tidy instead of compressed air.

I kept hotboxing my room and my Ps5 completely turned off due to dust build up … I opened it up and cleaned it throughly using Q-tips Rag (dry) Computer cleaner I cleaned it all up I kept the fan plugged in but cleaned it throughly. removed the 2 vents on each side . Put everything back into place including the 4 screws holding the fan guard. Word of advice don’t apply extra pressure when opening the Ps5 cover clips might break also on the vent covers . “It’s always 4:20 somewhere in the world” 🌎 🌍 🗺

You should use a vacuum instead of compressed air, compressed air can push the dust deeper into the Playstation, vacuum cleaner will suck it all out

Overheating ps5s ‼️🎉 pro tip. If you remove the fan you have full access to the power supply and heatsink. Heres how to fix your ps5. Which if you have a ps5 shutting off or overheating its like 90% that. Other 10% if the time the liquid metal needs spreading on the chip cause its dried up or has moved off it from gravity/ rough handling. Anyways basically unscrew the fan with a star screwdriver with a hole or use a pliers something. Get the fan out just enough to be out of the hole. Then get your flashlight and look down in the hole the fan was in. Look to see if the power supply holes are full of dust. If your ps5 is verticle its all the way at the bottom opposite the fan hole. If them tiny holes are dusted blow them out with air. Canned or compressor. If they are clogged thats usually guaranteed to shut your ps5 off from heat without even a warning many times. Then look at the heatsinks. Theres a bunch. Half the ps5 is a heatsink. Blow them out with canned air or an air compressor. Both the power supply and the heatsinks. Use a brush if you need or something similar on the heatsinks since they sometimes get real thick caked on gunk if you smoke or have pets. And thats basically it. Most of the time this fixes an overheating ps5. Or a ps5 shutting off after awhile randomly or after playing a real ps5 game which raises heat much faster.

I cleaned mine for the first time after 2 years and it looked nothing that bad

I've owned mine for just under 2 years and it looks NOTHING like that. Even stripping it all the way down to do the heat sink, it still didn't produce the amount of dust from the fan here. And I'm not even the cleanest person around, but I take good care of my things. It just boggles my mind how filthy people are or how filthy they'll let their things get.
