How to clean baseboards without bending down

Just a tip from someone who used to clean homes for a living, before you wet the surface of anything your cleaning make sure you clean the dust off 1st with a dry rag because when you wet anything that has dust it makes it sooo much harder to clean and don’t use anything that has ammonia in it, it attracts dust.

May I ask how do you keep pet hair off the stove and fridge ? And off the baseboard ? Would really appreciate your feedback.

@@samanthasalazar8685 unfortunately there is no real solution to prevent it from happening, however a lot of people are using cleaners that contain ammonia and that is the biggest culprit for attracting dust and pet hair. If you have stainless steel appliances use the brand sprayway stainless steel cleaner I find that it prevents a lot of the clinging that can happen with pet hair. I have pets too so I know. With base boards how I clean them is, I use the Bona Premium microfiber floor mop. I use it dry 1st to remove dust and pet hair, then I use it wet with just water and then, on the mop I spray the sprayway all purpose cleaner on the mop and I use it to finish off the base boards and I actually find that it prevents dust and hair from sticking on to it. Now it’s not a miracle solution but it will prevent most of the hair from sticking to it for a-lot longer. Same thing with floor cleaners whether you have hard wood, vinyl, marble, or carpets make sure you don’t use anything containing ammonia. I hope this helps.

My mother was a custodian for our local university and the one thing that always wowed people was her ability to clean baseboards and doors. Her trick was Scrub and Bubbles (well the dollar tree version), however any foaming spray cleaner would do the trick. Just spray them and wipe with a warm damp cloth. It literally is magic. The dirt will come right off and your whole room will feel clean... almost brighter in a way...lol... I love cleaning things that automatically give you instant satisfaction

I'm a housekeeper also and using the dawn spray It's just too much heavy soap Because it is concentrated. you can use just as simple multi-purpose as long as it doesn't contain bleach because it can mess up the paint on the wall. And dawn spray Can be quite pricey if you need to clean the whole baseboard in the house.

I cleaned it up as best I could at the time, but I didn’t realize there was an oily residue all over the floor. The more I walked on it and tracked in new dirt and dust, the darker it became. By Thanksgiving week, it was awful and my weekend guests were arriving Wed afternoon. I took a bottle of the Dawn spray and just went across the floor, spraying in sections and wiping the area with a large rag towel. In 25 minutes, my entire kitchen floor was oil free and gleaming sparking white!❤

I’m glad you are pointing out the baseboards. They are always overlooked. But… Too much product, didn’t dust it first, and using a grout brush- which is too rough for a wood surface. You’ll just scrape paint. Next time… 1, dust it 2, Get a damp cloth and rubber band it to your grout brush. 3,Spray soap to damp cloth. 4, Scrub, gently. Diluting a TINY drop of bleach and an eighth of a cup of Gain or Tide in your mop bucket and switching to a clean mop head will clean up the walls and baseboards beautifully and leave your home smelling fabulous!
