    Just wanted to thank you for the instructional on this process. Used all of the products plus some Plexus for a final cleaning. I recently purchased a used '12 wrangler and the windows were in really, really bad shape with large, deep scratches along the sides and back. Now, my windows are so incredibly better! The back one in particular looks like a piece of glass. I ended up taking the back off and taking it inside to buff on a piece of carpet. So impressed on how good of a job this did. I ended up using 4 rounds of #3, 3 rounds of #2 and 1 round of #1, then the final plexus clean. Night and day difference. Thank you!

    Why wouldn't you use a different polishing ball since you are working your way down from coarse to fine. There is still coarse grit on the ball and your using the same ball.

    If you take care of soft windows and keep them clean from the start, you won’t have to worry about polishing them to remove scratches. But over time, everyone is bound to pick up a few, so it’s good to know how to get rid of them.

    Guys do yourselves a favor and do this with a dual action polisher. I detail for a living and have done this a hundred times. Makes the job waaaaaaay faster and since the surface area is distributed you can't really burn through the plastic. I've never even felt it get warm before. The only thing these powerballs are good for is polishing hard to reach areas like on rims.

    This appears to be similar to doing the powerball headlight restoration treatment. I’ll say that your demo shows an improvement in the plastic window in that it looks shinier. But clearly there are still hazing and scratches present but they are masked by the shine provided by the polishing products. Just like headlight restoration, it’s not truly removing scratches or buffing them out and it’s not permanent removal. The polish just diffuses the light more evenly this the scratches do not appear as evident. Anyone who has restored their headlights knows that as the polish wears off with washing, the haziness reappears. So it just needs to be understood by anyone using it that it makes the windows appears clearer, but it doesn’t actually remove scratches and leave a “like new” surface.

    Seems like swirls are unavoidable. Bought these products and Powerball and back window is worse now than before polishing it. Swirls! Tried turning the Powerball sideways with new #3 polish and never could get the swirls to come out. Live and learn I guess.

    Thanks, great video. I bought the novus system and powerball as my Wrangler rear window is very hazy and I can't see through it. I have managed to get one side of it looking pretty shiny on the surface (both sides), but it's still as hazy as the other, untouched side. I spent about 30mins doing this. Do I need to spend more time to fix it or does the haze run right through the plastic do you think? Thanks.

    I'd recommend using a different ball for each one. If you use the #3 ball when you use the #2, there will still be some of the #3 on the ball. You'll contaminate the ball and your results won't be as good.

    Rob, are the decals on the window mounted on the outside surface or the inside? Just wondering how the polishes might effect those if they are stuck on the outside .... great video!

  • @Quadratec

    @Quadratec

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes, this Jeep had a variety of different types of decals stuck on the outside of the windows. The Quadratec decal was a single color vinyl decal and was not affected by the cleaning process. The AOAA decal is a printed type decal with black printing on white vinyl. That decal was slightly affected with some of the black being polished away. You could always tape off a sticker to protect it if you wanted or simply be extra careful and not polish over the sticker.

    I prefer by hand. Like Rob said, if you are going to use a drill or buffer, you have to be careful not to buff to hard. When you do it by hand, you have more of a feel of how the cleaning/buffing is going. There's less risk of damaging the windows. It takes more time but it's safer. Having a few beers and listening to good tunes helps pass the time. 🍺✌🏽

    Yes they will, same type of windows. I also have a 21 B6G, and maintain them using the Mothers Plastic polish about every 3rd or 4th detail. Once they do get some more pronounced scratches I'll try the Novus system. Stay away from the powerball, when you do yours, though. If you have the funds, a Rupes dual action polisher works a lot better.
