I just wanted to thank you & Partzilla....you guys have helped me with your videos and parts for my vintage ATVs and dirtbikes (1987 DR200 for example). You had parts when others didn't and you sent correct parts the first time.

Good video, thanks for sharing. I use dish soap and warm water. (Price is right) Any foam filter oil from a part store or lawn more dealer works as good as a big brand name oil.

I've watched a lot of your videos, you know your stuff and I really appreciate what you doing. Just little surprised to this cleaning procedure. All the airborne contaminants be on the outside of the air foam filter, and submerging completely under water this air foam filter would cause those contaminants to now move to the inside and stick, which is the cleanest part of a used air filter. Engine damage can occur from particles as small as a grain of salt and result in costly repairs.

Agreed I typically wash it out with my hose from the inside out. If I do that over a clean white bucket you would be surprised at all the particles that fall out when doing it this way

The foam filter oil prevents dirt from getting sucked in. The oil catches the dirt/dust. Too much oil will cause problems. I get a plastic shopping bag , than spray the oil into the bag. Once the bag has been coated I put the air filter inside the bag and move it around. I've been doing that for years and works well. It coats the filter perfect. Hope this helps.

More airflow means you need more fuel. You should rejet to make it run smooth. Some are numbered, others have no markings...Easier to just rejet than try to figure out if you have the right one already installed, They are cheap.

there is an easier way to clean foam filters. all you have to do is get a small bucket of old gas and submerge the filter in the gas for a few seconds, and then squeeze the filter, until all gas is out, and then just let it dry for about 20min. to make the process quicker blow the filter off gently with an air compressor.

While it's true that gas strips foam filters of old oil residue and contaminants effortlessly, gasoline also breaks down the foam cells and glue that bonds the foam strips together.
