how to clean and disinfect kid's toys
i had a lot of people ask me how i clean my son's toys after i put it on my instagram story/snapchat, so here's a walk through on how i clean both his hard, plastic toys, as well as soft, plush or battery operated toys. all you need is some disinfectant cleaner (i love lemon-scented lysol- not sponsored), some heat proof dishwasher gloves (you want REALLY HOT water!), a sink or tub, towels and wash clothes, and a coriander can be very useful. hope you enjoy this video! xoxo

I was saying the same thing. And I would give the toys a good scrubbing before rinsing.
Few issues. Don't forget the proper disinfection requires dwell time. That is according to the product label. Rinsing is always recommended for mouth toys.
I’m so glad I remembered you posting this video!! ‘Tis the season 😷
You don't rinse them after the sanitize ?
I have never done this before with my little one toys. this is such a great and easy idea. plus I love your sink stoppers
I would LOVE to see a day in the life with a new baby and a toddler! I'm going to be in the same situation in July when my baby girl gets here- and even if it's not a good routine you will stick to I would love to see a sample routine of how you do things! 💗
Good method with the colander. Just a caution, Lysol is meant to be rinsed off after sitting on surfaces of toys and anything that could be put in the mouth, and food prep areas.
Thanks for this video!! I've been wondering a good way to disinfect toys for the littles! Can't wait til your baby girl is here 😍😍
Tip: instead of lysol you can use some vinegar and blue dawn soap. Better for the environment, and it smells less like chemicals! Edit: You also don't need to wear gloves this way.

Dawn soap or whatever brand soap still has chemicals. Pregnant or not gloves should be taken in mind its not a vanity thing, its a safety thing. Regardless the situation when cleaning gloves should be worn. Some ppl can have allergic reactions to vinegar too, too much in excess is not good for the skin, etc so wear gloves!
This is my next chore thank you for the idea and motivation :)
Doing this right now! I have 14 month old twins and a 3 year old named Preslie :) Love your cleaning videos!
Great video..even toys get clean before baby girl comes..you are a good mommy.
Thank you! I find this easier to do in the bathtub. Much more room for more toys!
Thanks for the vid. Super helpful! I laughed at the coriander comment tho. Had to say something! Hahaha
I just did this a couple weeks ago! lol! such a huge chore, but much needed! :)
Love the video ❤️ need to clean daughter toys asap❤️
Brianna thanks for sharing. I am going to do this Monday when I'm off from work. Looking forward to cleaning! 😊 by the way you look fabulous!
Did you just call the colander a coriander?
Great vid ty! We have the same laundry baskets...all have broken handles too lol
Great idea, thanks for sharing.

Don't feel bad. There IS such a thing as being too disinfected or sterile.I think washing them with soap and water is just fine and need not to disinfect each and every time.

Loved. Your video
Do you rinse it with clean water after you soak in the lysol? How about those toys you wiped you just let it dry with the lysol solution? My baby is eating her toys so Im wondering she might eat it
@annkuhns3656
6 жыл бұрын
She is still getting the Lysol chemicals. It takes 20mins after you are exposed to a chemical for that chemical to be found in every organ in your body. If you have to wear gloves to use it no amount of rinsing is going to make it safe for the baby. www.annkuhns.norwex.biz.
This is wrong for so many reasons.
Cleaning with a citrus based, even non-toxic cleaner is way safer and better to breath in than Lysol or Clorox for that matter, and it also kills germs better. I used to spray vinegar on random things in the living room and didn't have to worry about in-toxicating anyone or anything.
I was going to wash the Minnie mouse sink toy so I found this thx!
No rinsing? What happens when the kids put it in their mouth?
Many toys allow water to get in and it cant escape and mold builds. Thats my issue.
@veiradonovan6453

For toys like those, I would suggest just hand wiping. I’m very concerned with the same
You need to rinse them before drying.
You did not soak it again on a hot water without soap? Im a new mom so i need to know all about sanitizing toys.

Rosemics Campbell yes you definitely should if you have a younger baby especially.
Why didnt you rinse them off after being in the lysol water, are you not supposed to? Is it not toxic if you dont?
You don't rinse them off? Would it be safe if they put them in their mouth? I know this was a few years ago.
@sewingmemory

I'm thinking the same
Oh God why would you use Lysol. Your kids are going to be sticking those things in their mouth. You should use something that will disinfect and be safe for them like hydrogen peroxide or baking soda or peppermint oil. Really got to think about the chemicals that you're exposing your family too
How should I clean the smaller foam letters?
@cheyr49

sarah green vinegar water solution ..soak in the sink. You can even add dawn soap if you’d like.
How do you safely disinfect baby teethers? Some have wood pieces and cannot be soaked.
Woodglut Blueprints has some very useful blueprints with all the details you need.
Why didn't you rinse them.??
Is this the process to wash bean toys
I've tried to do this but those plastic food type ones and most toys have holes and water gets trapped inside. :(
@lucindasanchezxo

Erica R I heard you can use a glue gun to cover the holes? Maybe that with work, I'm going to try it! 😊

Use a hot glue gun to put glue over holes on toys such as the rubber ducks & other squeeze toys with holes, etc. Otherwise they will get mold inside!

Need to rinse. Lysol is bad for small children. Use vinegar
i g stylus for
I clicked this because my names Brianna too.
Should be rinsing after disinfection.
Lysol?? That's dangerous for baby toys that get put into mouths. I highly discourage using Lysol for this.
You shouldn’t use Lysol for cleaning or disinfecting kids or babies toys it is strong chemicals

Lo Lo What?! Ummmm... Do you not have kids? They're messy and germs get spread easily through toys. She also said she had had other children over recently. It's pretty normal to want go keep things clean when you have a little one AND one on the way (at present time a toddler & baby)

Until someone has a minor salmonella or e. coli infection, spreads it onto the toys, and the toys infect a child. Not cleaning things is an old school approach. There are bacteria and fungal spores that can put a completely healthy child who has a strong immune system in the ER.
