I can at least 15 to 20 cups of water afterward. You can sprinkle baking soda in the sink and if you get any bubbling at all from the brewed water, you have vinegar residue.

This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. kzread.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

I’ve had my keurig 2.0 550 since its release, so I’m thinking over 10 years. Still looks and works great! As soon as the warranty expired I removed the top of the machine and followed the instructions of someone on KZread who successfully unlocked all the bells and whistles on this keurig! I can brew 4,6,8,10,12, even 14 ounces and I can heart up to 3 favorite settings including selecting/ deselecting strong brews! There’s even a setting for 2 step froth brew! I read the user manual/ instruction book. When I found out that this machine didn’t do everything it was supposed to do the company said they were going to be releasing those features in the coming months. Well here we are in 2024. How many hacks later? 😂

Great video! Ahhh, the magic of vinegar, right?! 🤸🤸🤸 I just used this method this morning, and I couldn't be happier, thanks! 🙂🙂 So much cheaper than the Keurig solution, and no worries about chemicals. (I'm sure they claim the cleaning solution is food grade, but I don't trust these companies any longer with such claims) With this method, you definitely KNOW that vinegar is food grade. 👍👍 I'd like to suggest using a large bowl for catching all the cleaning brews, specifically with the 2.0 model like in this video and what I have. If you don't have a 2.0, a bowl works as long as your drip tray comes completely out, exposing countertop under the tray space. It saves time babysitting your Keurig and dumping cup after cup, and you can use the 12 ounce setting on the 2.0 (or your particular highest setting) every time. 😉😉😉 Dump the bowl when necessary and continue on until your done cleaning your Keurig/Keurig 2.0! So much more efficient! 😊😊😊

I just did the cleaning solution method and will never, ever do that again. I ran at least 50 cycles now and cleaned the reservoir after each two cup cycle since that's how much my mug holds and am now starting to get the nasty chemical taste out of the water. The soapy residue just keeps coming out of the machine. I've even shaken the machine to get the heating reservoir cleaned out of any soapy residue. What a crock!!!!!!!! The directions from Keurig is 12 cycles, maybe more. A lot more @(*&^%$. Vinegar from now on for me!

Worked great for me. I have extremely high amounts of calcium and other minerals in my water due to the age of the lines from the city waterworks to my house so I have to clean every few months or ruin my Keurig. This is the first time that I've cleaned with vinegar and the process worked as smoothly as with the bought cleaner. My coffee tastes great, thanks!

A good tip that i find works great is to strip your water of everything with a zero water pitcher and add back in minerals with packets sold by third wave coffee company - they wont just nearly eliminate the need to de-scale , but will add just the right balance of minerals to give your coffee the very best flavor. I use the classic water profile ones. A single packet is enough for nearly 5 gallons of water, so a bit of math is needed to weigh the right amount each time.

Thank you for the video. I have a question about how you were able to put your carafe under the vessel to catch the water.. I have a carafe with my 2.0 Keurig, but every time I want to use it, a message comes up that it can’t be used with this setting. Is there a special way I need to put the carafe under the spout? I might add that I put the carafe in sideways instead of straight in, and it worked. But it didn’t show the carafe as yours did, it showed a mug. But I guess, whatever works! Right?

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but the cleaning probably wouldn't impact the speed of making the cup of coffee. It would (hopefully) increase the amount of coffee that reaches your cup. Should've measured the volume of coffee brewed before and after the cleaning. Otherwise, good video. Thanks for the upload!

The water filter is a cartridge inside the clear water reservoir, you can take it out and rinse with water or replace it(mine actually didn't come with it, and if you don't see it in there then yours probablydidn't either).what we do is fill it with water from our Brita water filter we keep in the fridge.

You don't need to use a reuseable filter to descale, All you have to do is just hit the brew button & the water will run through. You can go ahead & put your favorite coffee into the reusable k-cup & make coffee in it, it works really good. You can save a lot of money on coffee that way!

I cleaned my Keurig just like this. After the 2nd or 3rd cup of the vinegar processed (I do not have the carafe), it made the sound like it was going to brew again but did not. I let it sit, dry out, cleaned removable parts, and it still did not work. after multiple attempts, it still will not brew. Is there something to reset or is it burned out? It was only a few months old when I tried this cleaning method.

Loved your video. I have a 2.0 in red. I usually buy the descaler made for the Keurigs, but had used white vinegar before to clean my drip coffee makers so looked for a video on how to use white vinegar in a Keurig. Thank you for making this. I do, however, want to mention 2 observations I made. 1) I noticed that you do not have a water filter unit in the water reservoir. My 2.0 came with one. Is there a reason you don't use the charcoal filter? 2) I clean the coffee pod area of my 2.0 about every 2 weeks and I detach the pod holder from its holder. There are buttons to push in on either side. Like another person said, I too use a toothbrush to clean every nook & cranny. Especially around the piercing needle. Coffee oils are gross and make the machine run bad and your coffee tastes yucky. Just wondering why you didn't show that part too.

I used regular vinegar which has worked great for us, from what I know distilled vinegar has a stronger taste so maybe harder to get the vinegar taste out of the machine, however it should work. Our unit didnt come with the filter in the reservoir (we always use water from our britta water filter). If there is a filter in it, it should be removed while descaling the Keurig. Hope this helps :)
