I got a bran new high end expensive GE oven. I never use self cleaning because I know as a Hardware Engineer all my life that much heat WILL fry the electronics in you oven (very much shorten its lifetime) and cost you huge. I looked in the manual for how to clean, they recommended Bar Keepers Friend. I got a bottle of it in the liquid/paste form and it worked wonders on the stainless steel top under the gas gas jets. It cleaned my pots and pans got that baked on impossible to get off crud off. Used it on the interior and the grates. Haven't used it on my sink yet but will tonight, I wanted to see a video or someone who actually used it. Worked in and on my SS oven so should work for the sink. ITs great stuff, get it!!!!!

I've always wondered what the difference is between Bar Keepers Friend and Comet, Ajax, etc.? Vinegar & baking soda cancel each other out. One is acidic, the other alkaline. You can make a paste with baking soda, a non-toxic soap like Dr. Bronner's, and a couple of drops of essential oils, if you want a nice scent. I can't remember the exact recipe, but I made a little of this scrubbing paste at a demonstration table at a farmers market. They had the ingredients, a measuring cup & spoons, and the recipe and you could make your own little batch and take it home in a pill bottle!

My stainless steel sink is so small grained I can barely tell which way it runs. For something so important, I wish it was easier to tell…

Thanks! One more thing- I really wish some humNs would think before naming things and others for following suit… such as “ stainless steel”. How stupid is that? No, I don’t leave food in the sink, and I always rinse quite a bit, but I also noticed “stainless” steel sinks can be scratched and I wasn’t even putting a cast iron pan in there, nor was I careless with ceramics; I naturally am the type to be careful and worry about handling. things compared to acquaintances who chuck and shove things in their sinks, and don’t finish food, using the disposal for a lot. So I bought Nd used those rubber sink protectors on the bottom, which hides little bits of goo or whatever… just enough to stain my stainless steel sink. Drives me crazy.

BKF left visible scratches on my 500 dollar stainless sink. Surprised the hell out of me considering I did not use much pressure.
