You can also put the shower head in a big enough container pour warm water baking soda and vinegar let sit for 2 hours. Then rinse good put shower head back on turn hot water on for a few minutes. Drain should be cleaned every other week for best results

Didn’t wipe with sponge before putting the bag over it, is it necessary to do that. also does it have to be straight hot water afterwards to flush out or is look-warm water ok. I left it on for about 15 mintues but now the water seems to come out of shower head at first slow but then recoups. Did I do something wrong, should I just redo and leave in long. I have a morn old style shower head it’s chrome plated, with polished, brass, so I’m not sure how long I can leave the vinegar on for

Sponge isnt necessary it just helps loosen debris. But the hot water is. The hotter the better really, to help get that crud broken up in the pipes of the drain.

It varies based on your water pressure and water type. Our best recommendation is once a month! Mineral or limescale buildup is more likely to occur in households that use high-pressure water, and hard water with a lot of dissolved minerals can clog the nozzles. In those two instances, it is best to clean more frequently.

I did this to the shower head and now it looks like new, but the water pressure is very low now? Like it clogged it from the inside or something. Now what? Gotta get a new shower head?

@@bu3840 Think of how when you place your thumb over the opening of a hose. The pressure is the same, but the force of the water has been increased. The same thing is happening with the showerhead. Normally there are say, 20 holes the water is allowed to escape through the showehead. Since a bunch of those holes are now being blocked by gunk from the water that same pressure is now escaping through 15 holes. Same pressure with less outlets results in an increased force.

Step 1 start with a brand new freshly installed shower head. Step 2 scrub the shower head without actually scrubbing the shower head. Step 3 No need to proceed as you started the process with a perfectly brand new shower head that has 0 issues to start with. Step 4 enjoy a cold beverage on the couch as you feel accomplished for doing absolutely nothing productive ..

GhostReaper2043 It actually does work, but I tend to scrub like a maniac. True, vinegar’s natural acidic properties work well for SOME things but not for all. Clorox for thoroughly sanitizing and bleaching porcelain stains out, for example, is perfect. I use it on my kitchen sink and countertops as well as my bathroom surfaces.
