Tsk tsk tsk you're gonna let your system rust?

Try pouring citric acid with water (50/50) at boiling point on a rusted plate. It not only removes rust effectively, it also make a cool sound while doing it.

Muriatic acid will remove the rust.

Rather than Coca Cola, use Pepsi. pH on Pepsi is roughly half that of most soft drinks at 1.8 or so. Most are around 3.6.

Bar Keeper’s Friend and a scrub pad or steel wool!

Try naval jelly rust remover (there are several brands). You can also try a rust converter/reformer (also available by several different brands).

What kind of container do you use? The 45 fits perfect

You need to set up a permanent electrolysis tank. Very easy to build works incredibly well and later you can build a second tank for electroplating or anodizing

With that many plates, vinegar is probably the least expensive option

Muriatic acid ( pool acid) applied with a chemical resistant brush, OUTSIDE!

No way! It’s definitely worth a shot

Tabasco and wire brush. Works wonders, but cover your nose

Grab a 12-volt battery connect to some metal rods put a salt solution inside the water and let the electricity melt the rustt off

Evaporust worked great for me. Easy and doesn't smell bad. Plus you can reuse it. I used it on the smaller plates. You'd probably need more than a gallon for a 45 tho

Plus to save money you can drink the cola after use, or not perhaps, it's your call. It might be too high in iron? I'm going to go out on a limb and say don't drink it, for liability reasons... But you do you...

Try a 5 gallon bucket of walnuts in the hulls that has been sitting for a month in rain water. My Dad calls it panther piss. Lol 😂

Does he use the mixture to actually remove rust? Walnuts have a lot of tannins I wonder if that has anything to do with it

Yep he did and swore by it. Takes longer to get the mix ready than to use.

We used it in the military on brass… can’t say it’ll work on steel. But why not!! Hot sauce and a wire brush was key!
